    Top site for photography

Our campsite is beautifully located under the big skies of Lincolnshire.

Lincolnshire’s coast and countryside is waiting to be explored from our pretty Woodhall Spa Club campsite located in the Fenlands area of the county. The site enjoys a quiet, rural setting near the Edwardian town of the same name and accommodates some 90 units. It is bordered by trees and offers some secluded pitches. There is a lake on site and you’re likely to share your pitch with a variety of wildlife including rabbits and wild birds such as woodpeckers and moorhens.

The Edwardian town of Woodhall Spa is within walking distance and offers several places to eat. The Cottage Museum tells the history of the local community and the Kinema in the woods – a unique two-screen cinema – is open seven days a week.

For sandy beaches head to the popular resort of Skegness and Chapel St Leonards, both brimming with activities to keep the whole family entertained. In contrast the peaceful Lincolnshire Wolds provide a landscape of rolling hills and gentle valleys, perfect for walking, cycling and wildlife watching. The market towns of Market Rasen, Louth, Horncastle and Spilsby provide a range of shops, eating places.

Air enthusiasts will enjoy the Battle of Britain Air Museum at RAF Coningsby and the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby. Other local attractions include Lincoln Castle and Tattershall Castle, a dramatic red brick tower managed by the National Trust.

Site was fabulous as always, you can guarantee the standard is always going to be high and what a lovely welcome we received. We used the site as a base to explore the gorgeous countryside and villages around it and our first stop was to the Ebrington Arms in Kirky on Bain. A beautiful pub and only 1 1/2 miles from the site so we were able to walk down in the summer sunshine and sit outside. Here, as with everywhere we visited during our stay, the welcome and friendliness of everyone we spoke to was a joy! Next was a bike ride through Woodhall Spa town down to the old disused railway line to cycle along the Water Rail Way to Bardney. It is about 2 1/2 miles into and through Woodhall Spa and a further 7 miles to Bardney along side the River Witham. You cycle along the disused railway bed and pass through the old station platforms of both Stixwould and Southrey on route. We were extremely lucky that during our time at the Woodhall Spa site the Avro Lancaster bomber that is stationed at RAF Coningsby approximately 3 miles away had the only other flying Lancaster in the world from Canada visiting it. We were thrilled when on the day we decided to visit the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight which is based at RAF Coningsby, the British Lancaster was there and we were able to stand by the airfield and watch her ground crew perform engine checks! We then took a guided tour around the aircraft hanger to see the collection of WW2 aircraft preserved there including the Spitfires, Hurricanes and of course, 'Thumper' the British Avro Lancaster. Well worth doing this tour if you are a fanatic of these old aircraft as we are! We also dropped into the Bluebell Inn in Tattershall Thorpe. What an amazing place, full of WW2 memorabilia and the food was fabulous! A trip to Lincoln is a must and the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre is worth a visit too.

We have just returned from this lovely site, although must say we didnt know that there was work being done onsite (didnt see anything in the booking procedure?). It didnt disturb us too much. It must be 15 years since we were last at this site, brings back lovely memories or my children when they were small. The site was quiet when we arrived and we chose a pitch in the corner near the dog walk, backing onto the lake. Set up, and put the bird feeder up which within an hour attracted a Jay, we have never seen one before, but it came to within a few feet of the caravan. Then lots of different birds and a couple of squirrels joined the Jay. The ducks wandering around the site, making for any caravan with an open door were amusing. (yes I did feed them, but so did the birds on the feeder) the babies will eat from your hand. We had a good TV signal on site but the mobile phone signal was zero. The toilet block was clean but I found it cold, especially when I had a shower. The showers could do with updating, the water was barely warm and the flow like a very light rain shower, took ages to get the shampoo out of my hair. The showerhead just "hung" and couldnt be directed. It wouldnt stop us from going again.

Wished we could have stayed longer. So peaceful, pitched next to the duck pond/lake. Ducks very tame and friendly.Quite a shady site if you're after the sun but a good mix for sun and shade. Facilities spotless. Disabled room spacious. We visited "The Kinema in The Woods" in nearby Woodhall Spa to watch a current film. Worth going even if you dont want to go in. Quaint, in a lovely setting and very reasonably priced. Local shops looked very nice, wished we could have spent longer in the area. Good for bikes?(imho)
