Overview

You will find a real taste of the Scottish Highlands in this area of castles, distilleries and beautiful scenery.

Walks, wildlife and whisky are all in abundance in the area surrounding our beautiful Speyside Club campsite. The campsite enjoys a rural position between the fabulous Moray coast and the Cairngorms Mountain range. Set on a gentle south-facing slope and surrounded by trees, Speyside campsite will appeal to those looking for a peaceful and relaxing base for their exploration of the area.

Views extend over the surrounding countryside and trees and hedges dot the site giving some areas a more secluded feel. Facilities include a laundry, children’s play area and a dog walk.

If you enjoy a wee dram of Scotland’s famous tipple, you’re in luck. The area surrounding the campsite boasts some 50 whisky distilleries, including the world-famous Macallan Distillery. Most offer tours and there are whisky festivals in May and September.

For walkers, the 84-mile Speyside Way connects the moray coast with the Grampian mountains and passes close to the campsite.

As well as being handy for the coast of Moray Firth, Elgin, Buckie, Forres, Nairn, Fochabers and Spey bay are all within easy reach. At Spey Bay you’ll find the Scottish Dolphin Centre where you can enjoy dolphin spotting or take a walk along the mouth of the River Spey.

Eat Local

There are good local butchers shops in both Rothes and Aberlour and many restaurants which support local producers, including Fresh at Aberlour, The Bistro in Archiestown Hotel. Simpsons Bakery and Coffee Shop in Rothes.

For a step back in time, choose a sunny lunchtime and have a drink on the terrace of the Fiddichside Inn overlooking the river Fiddich. On the Keith road just out of Craigellachie. NB does not do food. Best meal we had was at the Mash Tun in Aberlour which also serves Scottish real ales (follow signs for Tourist Info in old station just off the main road). From the Mash Tun it is a short walk to the footbridge over the river Spey (from where it is a 2 mile (?) walk to the Speyside caravan park)

Andrew and Kenny work so hard to keep this site as beautiful as it is. A joy to stay here. The addition of the hard standings is really useful should the weather be wet.

This site has a great atmosphere of friendliness and calm.

This site has a great atmosphere of friendliness and calm. A lot to do with the managers who are always busy keeping the site beautifully presented. They work unobtrusively for our benefit and nothing seems to be a problem. The site itself is very picturesque with beautiful views down the valley. The dog walk has had bark chippings spread around which is certainly helpful when it's wet. There is a road at the top of the site which you can be aware of but we did not find it intrusive, traffic mainly at commuter times, don't get me wrong this is a rural road and a lot of the time no traffic at all. The only downside I feel as with other reviews the showers could be improved, please 'club' take note. However the block is spotless, lovely and warm and well maintained. The site is not far from Aberlour with lots of places to eat, fish and chips and co-op. The larger supermarkets can be found in Elgin about 30 minutes away. There is so much to do in the area, I cannot begin to tell you. The site is perfectly placed for the Coast, castles, Dolphins, fishing, walking, biking, historical forts and battles, Ospreys, ski-ing, steam railways even a trip to the top of the Cairn Gorm. After a busy day back to the lovely site.
