A city campsite with a rural feel describes our Norwich Club campsite. It commands a beautiful spot next to a river with walks and fishing along the banks. Its back-to-nature feel is enhanced by a small holding with chickens and geese right next door.
It’s a fairly secluded and quiet campsite and well laid out with 50 grass pitches and well maintained facilities.
This campsite is in easy reach of the city of Norwich by bike, a lovely walk along the old railway line or by bus which stops a quarter of a mile from the site. Norwich is famed for its castle and cathedral and it has more medieval churches than any other city in Western Europe. Four large malls will satisfy the fussiest shopper and there are numerous places to eat and drink.
There are walking and cycling opportunities in Whitlingham Country Park, one-and-a-half miles from the campsite. And, as well as being a haven for wildlife, there’s also a watersports centre offering windsurfing, sailing and kayaking.
The Norfolk Broads, Britain’s largest protected wetland, is within easy reach of the campsite and is home to some of the country’s rarest plants and wildlife.
Access to the riverbank for fishing during the fishing season (16 June to site closing date). Current Environment Agency rod licence is required before fishing can commence. The river can get very weedy in summer months. The site is close to the mainlin

Very attracive smallish site surrounded by large mature trees beside the river Wensum, about 40 minutes walk from Norwich cathdral. Do not follow satnav directions as these take you under a low bridge! The staff were exceptionally helpful and this contributed to a most enjoyable few days. Although there was quite a lot of rain, our grass pitch remained firm and we had no problems drivivg away. The fishing was good, and a large trout and chub were caught in an afternoon. Beatifully maintained site, but the showers could do with updating. Very pleasant small dog walk too. We will visit this site again.

I was given a choice of a pitch next to my car or in the vehicle free field. I chose the latter. I had use of a trolley so no problem. The field was very waterlogged but was shown a dry area.
Amenities were lovely and clean and wardens were friendly and helpful.

We booked Jumbo pitch for a week. Not suitable so moved to a standard pitch. Asked for reduction and told "nice try". Manager could have suggested we paid one night for Jumbo, cancel 6 nights and book standard as per club rules which would have saved us over ?30 but wasn't going to argue with manager who could have been more helpful at the time.

What a lovely few days we have had at Norwich, we had a very friendly welcome from the site managers Paul and Liz they seem to really enjoy their job and never seemed to stop working,if they weren't welcoming campers they were painting or gardening etc, helped also by the site assistant who was also very friendly, the site itself is mainly grass pitches ,it has the best dog walk right alongside the river, facilities are dated but always clean ,walk into Norwich from the site 30 min or the seaside isn't too far away, small shop on site for essentials ,will return enjoyed it so much
