Thetford Club campsite is surrounded by natural history & ideal for walkers & cyclists.

Sitting on the edge of Britain’s largest lowland pine forest, our Thetford Forest Club campsite is ideal for those looking to explore Norfolk’s towns and cities like Norwich and Bury St Edmunds, the Broads, or heading to coast for some traditional seaside fun at Great Yarmouth or the more peaceful Southwold.

While at your base at Thetford campsite you can be sure of a relaxed and comfortable stay. The tree-lined campsite is spacious, level and well laid out. Its 150 pitches are split over separate camping areas and the excellent facilities include a parent and child room, a children’s play area set within a fenced recreation field, a dog walk and you can fish for carp, tench and roach on the campsite’s fishing pond.

The local area is ideal for walking and cycling. The Peddars Way National Trail passes close to the campsite while the forest offers boundless opportunities for outdoor activity. The High Lodge Forest Centre has play equipment, sculpture trails and for teenagers there's Go Ape!

Other nearby attractions include Banham Zoo, home to some of the world’s most exotic, rare and endangered animals, BeWILDerwood, a quirky adventure park in Wroxham and Dinosaur Adventure with dinosaur trails, play areas and an animal encounter.

Ideal for a quiet relaxing break or for those wanting a bit more excitement.

Ideal for a quiet relaxing break or for those wanting a bit more excitement. Snetterton race circuit is close by and there are far too many walks/bike rides to mention. A visit to Norwich is a must....recommend using the park and ride system operated...very simple. We didn't have any children with us but there are plenty of places to take them locally but if they bring bikes they will spend most of the day happily cycling around the site making new friends. The facilities are kept very clean and tidy as is the whole site....well done to all of you. I am sure we will be back!

We stayed here for three nights in July.

This review is for Thetford Forest

We stayed here for three nights in July. We picked the site after reading the website reviews and for the suitability for dogs. When we arrived the reception staff were pleasant enough but the wardens were definately not as friendly as we are used to on other sites. Examples of this were when walking past them we would say good morning/afternoon and be ignored and when one of the staff was guiding a left hand drive motorhome onto their pitch in the next field he was heard to say "that's it, now put the handbrake on, select neutral and turn off the engine" in a very loud, sarcastic manner. As for the dog walks, there is access to woodland directly from the site but when you come across the official signage it says to have dogs on leads. We did ask at reception and were told ;oh it's ok to have them off lead, don't worry. The pubs mentioned are quite a walk away via busy roads so we didn't venture out to them. On a positive note the toilets and showers were always clean and we didn't have to wait even though the site was busy. There were lots of families there and the children's play area is large enough for several ball games. Good site but we won't be returning.

We chose Thetford as we wanted to visit the Dad's Army Museum and look at Corporal Jones the butchers van that is stored in the town at the Burrell Museum along with some traction engines. Both museums are FREE entry and very informative. - Check opening times as not open every day! Lovely town and also Captain Mainwaring's statue is there too! Delicious Walminghman sausages from J Jones the butcher in Main Street. Fish & Chips served at the campsite on Friday Nights
