    Top site for walking

Located on the River Ure, this campsite is a great spot for walking or visiting nearby York.

Our pretty Boroughbridge Club campsite in north Yorkshire, just off the A1, is a great stop over site for those traveling up or down the country. Equally, its location close the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks makes it a good base for those wanting to explore Yorkshire’s many attractions.

The River Ure borders the campsite and provides somewhere to relax and watch the world float by. The campsite benefits from recently refurbished facilities, it also has a well-stocked shop and a large area for ball games.

There are a number of walking opportunities from site. The old town of Boroughbridge is within walking distance. There are a circular walks too, or you can enjoy a stroll along the river and to Ripon.

The delightful Harrogate – great for shopping and Betty’s Tearoom – and the city of York – with its famous minster and the Jorvik Viking Centre – are a drive away while Fountains Abbey, Studley Royall and Newby Hall make interesting days out.

Self-catering accommodation is available at this site.

Available to buy or buy-to-let are stunning Exclusive Lodges. Visit the Exclusive Lodges website to find out more or call 0844 770 6860.

Enjoyed a fairly relaxing weekend trying out our new caravan, which was spoilt somewhat by the continuous 24 hour "industrial noise" from factories in very close proximity to the site (it never used to be this bad on previous visits) as well as being rudely awoken by the loud bangs from a nearby farm's "bird scarer" which started at 6am daily on a morning and continued every few minutes throughout the day until dusk. (We appreciate that these matters are out of the control of the Club but feel that Members should be aware of these circumstances if planning a visit, especially at this time of year). There are some pleasant walks in the area, and a very nice pub (dog friendly) serving real ale and top quality food in the adjoining village of Roecliffe which is just a short walk away from the site, indeed we enjoyed chatting to some fellow Club Members from the Site whilst calling in for a drink during one of our walks. There is plenty to see in the area if you travel a little further afield as well. The site is just a couple of minutes drive from the A1 and access is easy for caravans & motorhomes. This site is prone to flooding at certain times so ensure that you check before your journey should there have been a particularly wet spell.

This site has got a lot of things to recommend it, within easy walking distance to town centre, which has excellent pubs and eateries. It is also a great base for visiting York, Harrogate, Ripon and other local towns, all within easy reach.

We only stayed one night but had a nice walk to the village and along the river. We'll return and do the walk or cycle to Ripon next time. The chemical toilet disposal point has to be the cleanest I've ever seen, and having just spent time in Spain, it's clear the Club provides excellent facilities. The only downside was the noise from the nearby dairy, and judging from others' comments this could become an issue.

We were under the impression that the site was closer to the town and having to cross a very busy main road was a little nerve racking at times but, the town it self was very friendly and there were some great walks. We also liked the fact that we could take the dog into a few of the public houses and also have a meal. Even the dog was looked after.

“What a lovely site this is. Stayed over a weekend in June for the first time with our 2 boys 11 and 8 and will be back again, one of the best c&cc sites we have been to. The site has a small play area for the kids and an area on 'the paddock' for ball games etc. Lovely peaceful site by the river (no direct access though) with regular visits from the ducks. Fish and Chip van visits the site on a tues, thurs and sat evening between 430 and 515 although we didnt get the opportunity to try this time. Boroughbridge is a short drive away or accessible on foot with directions available from reception, we had a lovely sunday lunch at the three horse shoes which was not over priced. Site also ideally located for visiting York and Harrogate. Looking forward to our next visit keep up the good work and thanks for a lovely weekend.”
