    Top site for walking

Located on the River Ure, this campsite is a great spot for walking or visiting nearby York.

Our pretty Boroughbridge Club campsite in north Yorkshire, just off the A1, is a great stop over site for those traveling up or down the country. Equally, its location close the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks makes it a good base for those wanting to explore Yorkshire’s many attractions.

The River Ure borders the campsite and provides somewhere to relax and watch the world float by. The campsite benefits from recently refurbished facilities, it also has a well-stocked shop and a large area for ball games.

There are a number of walking opportunities from the campsite. The old town of Boroughbridge is within walking distance. There are a few circular walks from the site, or you can enjoy a stroll along the river from Roecliffe to Ripon.

The delightful Harrogate – great for shopping and Betty’s Tearoom – and the city of York – with its famous minster and the Jorvik Viking Centre – are a drive away while Fountains Abbey, Studley Royall and Newby Hall make interesting days out.

Self-catering accommodation is available at this site. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the self-catering properties).

Available to buy are stunning holiday caravans and lodges. Visit the Club Holiday Homes website to find out more or call 02477 983801.

The Wardens were very helpful and friendly and the facilities are spotlessly clean. There is plenty to see and visit in the area in both the Yorkshire Moors and Dales. very interesting towns and villages a short drive away and Abbeys that are really worth a visit. The only drawback was being pitched near the toilet block that is closest to the minor road that accesses the site. The constant grinding noise from the Industrial Site machinery day and night is very annoying. I suggest a pitch that is away from the approach road and amenities block, nearer the river. The only other slight problem was the new concrete pitch that was saucer shaped and did not drain properly. This meant stepping out into a pool of water in the morning after rain. It would have been dryer using a grass pitch! Lastly the Fish and Chip van was a welcome sight on 3 nights of the week.

Lovely site nice people. Very clean. Flat. Prone to flooding I was told so was told which way to park nose out for fast exit! Few people had to have awning on she dark sides. Noisy from factory over road. No direct dog walks unless you want to walk through town first. Left a day early from our 5 night stay. Sorry won't revisit.

Excellent site and in a good location to visit Ripon, Knaresborough and Boroughbridge all well worth a visit. The team here are all very welcoming and hard working especially Martin and his wife who we saw daily out on site painting etc. We have just a couple of comments about the facilities which were always extremely clean. Firstly the showers it is very frustrating and almost archaic to have to keep pressing the button every 10 seconds, these seriously need updating. Secondly my husband who is 6ft 2ins tall found that the mirrors in the mens shower block were set far too low. Raising them, he realises, would be a little difficult because of the fluorescent top light but could go about 9ins higher which means he wouldnt have to crouch to shave! Finally the hooks on the back of the shower doors were ineffective, everything kept dropping off, and usually when you were mid-shower so towels and wash bags got soaked. These comments are meant as constructive feedback to the club not the site team who were marvellous. We will certainly visit again and look forward to any improvements.

The stay was slightly spoilt by the sound of traffic during the day from the nearby A1(M) and the road outside servicing an industrial site. There was also a continuous drone from some equipment across the road through the day and night which sounded like a large pump (perhaps because the area had some flooding just before we arrived). However, this did not spoil our short stay as it was something we could ignore, and was more than compensated for with the proximity of some really interesting places to go nearby.

“What a lovely site this is. Stayed over a weekend in June for the first time with our 2 boys 11 and 8 and will be back again, one of the best c&cc sites we have been to. The site has a small play area for the kids and an area on 'the paddock' for ball games etc. Lovely peaceful site by the river (no direct access though) with regular visits from the ducks. Fish and Chip van visits the site on a tues, thurs and sat evening between 430 and 515 although we didnt get the opportunity to try this time. Boroughbridge is a short drive away or accessible on foot with directions available from reception, we had a lovely sunday lunch at the three horse shoes which was not over priced. Site also ideally located for visiting York and Harrogate. Looking forward to our next visit keep up the good work and thanks for a lovely weekend.”
