Near Scarborough, this site is ideal for exploring Yorkshire’s coast and moors.

Our Scarborough Club campsite lies just north of the Victorian seaside resort of the same name and is perfectly located for exploring the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and the North York Moors National Park.

Scarborough is a large family-friendly campsite with 300 pitches. It is a spacious site with well-placed modern facility blocks. Younger campers are catered for with two play parks and a football pitch and there’s a recreation room too. There’s a small on site chippy, a well stocked shop and a dog exercise field.

From the campsite, it’s an easy walk to the town’s Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary and the North Bay beach along a pleasant cliff-top path. The site is a ten-minute walk from the Cleveland Way National Trail which hugs the North Yorkshire coast and a traffic-free cycle path passes close to the site on the way to Whitby.

West of the campsite North Riding Forest Park (or Dalby Forest as it is also known) has many waymarked trails for walkers and mountain bikers. You can go orienteering here too. Go Ape! Offers tree top adventure with ropes and zip wires or, if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, enjoy the forest on a Segway.

Head north to Staintondale for the Shire Horse centre. Learn about the North Yorkshire coast at the Ravenscar Coastal Centre. From here it’s a three-mile beach walk to the pretty fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby, ten miles further on, offers the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Lifeboat Museum and Whitby Abbey. Catch a train to Grosmont, the terminus for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This 18-mile heritage line runs across the National Park to Pickering. Jump off at Goathland (or Aidensfield for TVs Heartbeat fans).

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Please note there are building works in the area of the site, so there may be some noise heard from these at times.

We arrived just after 8pm having been delayed on the A64 however staff were still plentiful and helpful and quickly had us on our pitch. The site is on a gentle slope and very large and very clean at all times. There are plenty of toilet blocks, waste and water points albeit all just looking a touch tired. Dog walking field is ok and there is a good walk through the fields via cliff tops to Scalby mills. The children's play facilities are limited albeit satisfied our 3 year old grandson. Bus service is available into town although parking wasn't too bad even though it was a busy weekend. We would happily return with our grandson but not sure we would go back on our own unless we could select a pitch away from the big field, we do not particularly like being surrounded on 4 sides by other vans. Pity no fully serviced pitches are on offer!

We arrived Saturday afternoon, received a cheery welcome, had a very short wait to be guided to our pitch (we were given a choice)which was ideal for us. We'd read some negative reviews about some of the pitches there in bad weather but as the weather was kind we didn't have an issue. This was our first trip away in a new motorhome after a break of 20 years away from "camping" and this site was always going to be our first choice and we weren't disappointed to be back, and we hope to return again in the near future.

On arriving and after checking in I was taken to my pitch which was hard standing ie grass/mess with electric hook up. the area is so well kept nice neatly cut grass which is collected so no clumps being carried into my van. The guy made sure I was happy with my pitch before leaving to help another arrival. After pitching my awning I settled back to enjoy the afternoon sun,it was while relaxing I noted that after a pitch is vacated the staff come round and mow the grass in that area giving an overall feeling of a well kept site. The toilet blocks are clean and tidy with no complaints plenty of hot water for showers also good washing facilities..elsan points...and also a motorhome service point...water points in different areas 2 taps one for waste water and also clean drinking point....Also on a site layout plan given when you arrive a lot of useful information on addresses with post codes for all supermarkets which not knowing the area I found to be very useful for setting the satnav . The on site chippy was a big bonus and I was very naughty having fish and chips on three of the eight nights each time freshly cooked as I waited exchanging banter over the international football being played during my stay. Just me and my little dog we were able to wander the site and enjoy the layout as it is a large site with all manner of campers, motor homes, caravans, and tents with good distances between pitches. All in all a brilliant stay on a cracking site with friendly staff on site to help if needed.....A small shop fresh bread daily and papers can be ordered. and for me the bonus of some very yummy fish and chips. Will certainly hope to return. Many thanks to all the staff a lovely site.

Slightly disappointed with this site compared to other Club sites I have stayed at.

Slightly disappointed with this site compared to other Club sites I have stayed at. Although staff were very friendly on arrival, I didn't see anyone else during my time there. Great dog walks on other side of busy road but unfortunately due to the time of year my dog couldn't go on the beach (obviously not the fault of the site!!). Facilities couldn't definitely do with an upgrade - bit shabby (and cold) although clean; but easy access to motorhome points. The worse thing was the mesh/grass hardstanding which was not pleasant in the wet.
