Near Scarborough, this site is ideal for exploring Yorkshire’s coast and moors.

Our Scarborough Club campsite lies just north of the Victorian seaside resort of the same name and is perfectly located for exploring the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and the North York Moors National Park.

Scarborough is a large family-friendly campsite with 300 pitches. It is a spacious site with well-placed modern facility blocks. Younger campers are catered for with two play parks and a football pitch and there’s a recreation room too. There’s a small on site chippy, a well stocked shop and a dog exercise field.

From the campsite, it’s an easy walk to the town’s Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary and the North Bay beach along a pleasant cliff-top path. The site is a ten-minute walk from the Cleveland Way National Trail which hugs the North Yorkshire coast and a traffic-free cycle path passes close to the site on the way to Whitby.

West of the campsite North Riding Forest Park (or Dalby Forest as it is also known) has many waymarked trails for walkers and mountain bikers. You can go orienteering here too. Go Ape! Offers tree top adventure with ropes and zip wires or, if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, enjoy the forest on a Segway.

Head north to Staintondale for the Shire Horse centre. Learn about the North Yorkshire coast at the Ravenscar Coastal Centre. From here it’s a three-mile beach walk to the pretty fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby, ten miles further on, offers the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Lifeboat Museum and Whitby Abbey. Catch a train to Grosmont, the terminus for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This 18-mile heritage line runs across the National Park to Pickering. Jump off at Goathland (or Aidensfield for TVs Heartbeat fans).

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Please note there are building works in the area of the site, so there may be some noise heard from these at times.

Arrived around teatime. Was shown to pitch and given map.

Arrived around teatime. Was shown to pitch and given map. Welcome to see open fish and chip shop on site. Heated shower and toilet blocks. Lovely walk to Scarborough the next day - down to North Bay up to castle and to South Bay. Took just over an hour at pleasant pace. Got sightseeing bus back to North Bay along sea front. Pub at top of campsite offered great value meal 6 for carvery! Only second time away in Campervan so not much to compare it to but was quiet and relaxing.

The site is just a 5-10 minute drive to the beach and about a 10 minute drive to the town centre. The bus service isn't frequent and it's just a bit too far to walk. The facilities were all good - nice warm toilet/shower blocks and always warm water at washing up sinks (which isn't always the case on sites). I wouldn't advise buying the wifi though - it's not cheap and the signal isn't adequate enough to justify the cost. That said though, I found the site pleasant and friendly and I would recommend it.

Only 10 minute walk from Sea Life centre across cliff tops and only a few miles into Scarborough or catch the train from Scalby Mill to Peasholme Park and feed the squirrels. Terrific day out at little cost. Through a gate from the site there is a Crown Carvery pub and when we visited the staff and food were excellent or just have fish and chips from on site chippy. What's not to like - well one thing for us. As it was nearing time for site to close there appeared to be only one toilet/shower block open and it was a fair track to get there from our pitch. Even had to use the chemical toilet disposal in that block. Would not expect to pay full mid season price (23 pn) with a reduction in facilities.

Disappointed that most toilets are shut and the main block shut from 10.30 to 12.00 am.

This review is for Scarborough

Disappointed that most toilets are shut and the main block shut from 10.30 to 12.00 am. This is the time that most people seem to require them whether they are leaving the site to head home or to see the local sites. I spoke to a gentlemen who tried to shower and had just got up from bed and was refused. This seems a silly time to shut the amenities. When we arrived we chose a pitch to suit us and not far from fresh water and waste water and was told that they were in service. The next day I went for water and to empty the waste and found out of bounds. This then meant I had to drag containers up a slight up hill ,this is not to bad if you're in Good health. I think a warning would have been nice. We know it's late in the season but surely the amenities could be better organized to benefit the members better.
