Overview

Between the North York Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this peaceful campsite welcomes you to Yorkshire.

Our pretty Slingsby Club campsite sits between the rolling Howardian Hills to the south and the Vale of Pickering and the North York Moors National Park to the north making the campsite a popular base for walkers.

Situated in a peaceful location on the edge of a village, the level, well maintained campsite has modern facilities including a laundry, dish washing area and a well equipped amenity block.

There are plenty of walking opportunities direct from the campsite. Slingsby village, for example, is within walking distance and surrounded by an intricate network of lanes, footpaths and bridleways.

The area is dotted with magnificent historic buildings. Take your pick from gems including the magnificent 18th century Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Newburgh Abbey, Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey.

Three of the area’s most popular attractions are within 15 miles of the campsite. There’s Flamingoland with its wild animals and wilder rides, the modern history theme museum – Eden Camp and the North York Moors Railway which runs a scenic route from Pickering to Whitby.

The medieval city of York, around a half hour’s drive away, is famous for its city walls, minster and a variety of museums. The city’s Park and Ride scheme accommodates motorhomes.

Please note that all pitches on this site have electric hook-up so the appropriate additional charges apply.

Brilliant pub in the village with great food.

This review is for Slingsby

Brilliant pub in the village with great food. Dog friendly and dogs can sit inside or in the beer garden at the rear or even out at the front of the pub and watch the world go by. Very quiet and extremely civilised village. Small shop in the village stocking basic items. Walks directly from the site although we didn't explore many as it was extremely hot and not suitable for walking our whippets far in the unbearable heat. Local residents all very friendly. The only thing missing was a little tea room. Will definitely re visit. Love it also on how the wardens of this club help you to find the most suitable pitch so that you don't have to constantly drive around looking for one. Nice also to see all dog owners on the site acting responsibly.

A very relaxing break in an ideal setting.

A very relaxing break in an ideal setting. Very quiet even though dogs(we have two) almost outnumbered humans! Access to the moors, wolds and coast very good. Discovered Dalby forest. What a find. The heritage railway (NYMR), Celebrating 50years just up the road at Pickering. Friendly people everywhere we went. Railway Inn at Grosmont. My wife is a veggie and they have an excellent v- menu. And you can eat it on the terrace as you watch the steam trains come and go and all things in between. Very nice.
