Overview

Between the North York Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this peaceful campsite welcomes you to Yorkshire.

Our pretty Slingsby Club campsite sits between the rolling Howardian Hills to the south and the Vale of Pickering and the North York Moors National Park to the north making the campsite a popular base for walkers.

Situated in a peaceful location on the edge of a village, the level, well maintained campsite has modern facilities including a laundry, dish washing area and a well equipped amenity block.

There are plenty of walking opportunities direct from the campsite. Slingsby village, for example, is within walking distance and surrounded by an intricate network of lanes, footpaths and bridleways.

The area is dotted with magnificent historic buildings. Take your pick from gems including the magnificent 18th century Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Newburgh Abbey, Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey.

Three of the area’s most popular attractions are within 15 miles of the campsite. There’s Flamingoland with its wild animals and wilder rides, the modern history theme museum – Eden Camp and the North York Moors Railway which runs a scenic route from Pickering to Whitby.

The medieval city of York, around a half hour’s drive away, is famous for its city walls, minster and a variety of museums. The city’s Park and Ride scheme accommodates motorhomes.

There are only Club Service pitches so the fee of £3.85 will apply at all times.

What a wonderful find.

What a wonderful find. Slingsby is a beautiful unspoilt small North Yorkshire village and the c&cc site is a little gem. The village is picturesque and is served by a super dog friendly pub just 5 min walk from the site which does superb food. Further along in the village is a tiny old fashioned village store where you can get essential items. Local Spar it isn't local shop it is. There are miles and miles of fabulous walks direct from the site and most are very dog friendly and easily passable as many have been laid to pathways. Not technically challenging but you can walk for miles and miles and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. As for the site itself, it was a very pleasant surprise. It was our first stay on a c&cc site. We had driven past it in the winter when it was closed and thought it looked a little sad, but we were warmly welcomed and then shown to a choice of pitches suitable for our unit. We were given the freedom to pitch how we wanted and did just that. There is a fabulous dog walk just off the site where your dogs can be safely off lead and that applies to many of the walks in the area. Just watch for the odd horse or sheep in any fields. The site is very peaceful and so relaxing. The facilities are modern and spotlessly clean. The reception has short opening hours and seeks basic provisions and some caravan items such as pink and blue etc. The wardens are usually around and only too happy to help. Couldn't fault this stay in any way. It far exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to get back. luckily as we're only an hour away, that should the too difficult. 10/10 well done c&cc
