Overview

Between the North York Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this peaceful campsite welcomes you to Yorkshire.

Our pretty Slingsby Club campsite sits between the rolling Howardian Hills to the south and the Vale of Pickering and the North York Moors National Park to the north making the campsite a popular base for walkers.

Situated in a peaceful location on the edge of a village, the level, well maintained campsite has modern facilities including a laundry, dish washing area and a well equipped amenity block.

There are plenty of walking opportunities direct from the campsite. Slingsby village, for example, is within walking distance and surrounded by an intricate network of lanes, footpaths and bridleways.

The area is dotted with magnificent historic buildings. Take your pick from gems including the magnificent 18th century Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Newburgh Abbey, Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey.

Three of the area’s most popular attractions are within 15 miles of the campsite. There’s Flamingoland with its wild animals and wilder rides, the modern history theme museum – Eden Camp and the North York Moors Railway which runs a scenic route from Pickering to Whitby.

The medieval city of York, around a half hour’s drive away, is famous for its city walls, minster and a variety of museums. The city’s Park and Ride scheme accommodates motorhomes.

Please note that all pitches on this site have electric hook-up so the appropriate additional charges apply.

Nice level site with spacious pitches.

This review is for Slingsby

Nice level site with spacious pitches. Great area for walking with lots of places to visit in vicinity. Also great for walking. Very close to spectacular Castle Howard and various National Trust properties and easy access to historic York. We will certainly return to this lovely site.

Love this site. We park the car then it doesn't turn a wheel.

Love this site. We park the car then it doesn't turn a wheel. Perfect for dogs as there are miles and miles of country walks. The wardens are lovely, pitch how you like on lovely level pitches. Well drained so grass or hard standing is fine. Only down is there's only two toilets for the blokes which isn't enough at busy times... and people do tend to walk through your pitch taking a shortcut to the loos. The pub down the road, The Grapes, is lovely but gets busy at peak times and the locals take ownership of the bar meaning we left as could not get served and while our dog was perfectly behaved, a barking local dog meant it was impossible to stay. At less busy times though it's well worth a visit and has a fabulous garden and dog friendly 6 miles from Malton if you need to stock up on supplies, but do use the little village shop which is just a ten minute walk from the site selling papers and fresh local produce that deserves support. Gorgeous village, beautiful countryside, local pub, local shop, oh and the cake shop next door.... what's not to love?

Nice site in a nice area, some bits of it were windy but clean and well run.

This review is for Slingsby

Nice site in a nice area, some bits of it were windy but clean and well run. As I said before, the signage leading to the site is poor so make sure you have the site book or have downloaded the directions before you get there as the signal is very patchy?? A relaxing weekend and we may go again now that we know how to get there!
