Overview

Great site for exploring the pretty Cotswolds towns and their attractions.

Amid the honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds is where you’ll find the Club’s charming Chipping Norton campsite. Tucked away off the beaten track, this campsite offers a mix of level and sloping pitches, surrounded by trees and dry stone walls.

If it’s peace and tranquillity you are after, this site delivers in spades. But it would a shame not to venture off site and explore the beauty of the Cotswolds. Hop in your car or catch the bus right outside the site and discover the charms of Chipping Norton itself, Chadlington, Charbury and Witney for starters.

No stay at Chipping Norton campsite should be without a visit to Stow on the Wold, Bourton-on-the- Water and Batsford. As well as brimming with charm, they boast an eclectic mix of family attractions including Birdland and a model village in Bourton. Batsford Arboretum and Hidcote Manor are also worth visiting.

If you'd like to go glamping then Chipping Norton Ready Camp is the perfect choice. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Worth Noting

Most pitches are sloping so chocks will be required. The site has full recycling facilities.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

There is a Farmers’ Market on the third Saturday of the month in Chipping Norton. Several farm shops in the area sell locally grown fruit and vegetables.

Despite the torrential rain all day on the second day of my stay, which gave me the opportunity to give the wi-fi a thorough workout (I was not disappointed), I managed to get out and about via the bus service at the campsite entrance so there was plenty to explore during my short visit. Facilities were immaculate, a short dog walk was tidy and clean (although I did not bring my two dogs this time). There was quite a bit of noise from traffic on both the campsite road and the A road junction a short distance away, but on the other hand I enjoyed listening to the dawn chorus - even if it was at 04:20 in the morning! I shall come again for a short break as there is more to see and the weather might be a lot better.

Apart from the cleanliness the site had some very noteworthy features. Firstly the showers and washrooms had lots of hooks and a big shower tray to put all your stuff in. Secondly, a very big plus, the hairdryers were both on the left and right hand sides (perfect for left handers), adjacent to mirrors (perfect for those short sighted who can't see if a sink is in the way) and the mirrors were of a height for most "normal " people. (So many sites have very high mirrors).
