Overview

Great site for exploring the pretty Cotswolds towns and their attractions.

Amid the honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds is where you’ll find the Club’s charming Chipping Norton campsite. Tucked away off the beaten track, this campsite offers a mix of level and sloping pitches, surrounded by trees and dry stone walls.

If it’s peace and tranquillity you are after, this site delivers in spades. But it would a shame not to venture off site and explore the beauty of the Cotswolds. Hop in your car or catch the bus right outside the site and discover the charms of Chipping Norton itself, Chadlington, Charbury and Witney for starters.

No stay at Chipping Norton campsite should be without a visit to Stow on the Wold, Bourton-on-the- Water and Batsford. As well as brimming with charm, they boast an eclectic mix of family attractions including Birdland and a model village in Bourton. Batsford Arboretum and Hidcote Manor are also worth visiting.

Worth Noting

Most pitches are sloping so chocks will be required. The site has full recycling facilities.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

There is a Farmers’ Market on the third Saturday of the month in Chipping Norton. Several farm shops in the area sell locally grown fruit and vegetables.

This lovely site is conveniently located for visiting many beautiful Cotswold towns and villages. There is an hourly bus service to Chipping Norton and the stop is by the entrance to the site. Can recommend visits to National Trust properties Hidcote Manor Garden and Snowshill Manor but wheelchair access around the gardens may be a problem - suggest you check first. Unfortunately we were only able to stay 3 nights but this is a site we will definitely visit again.

We had a friendly welcome and were offered choices in where to pitch.

We had a friendly welcome and were offered choices in where to pitch. The site was really immaculate clean and well-tended, even by Club site standards. The site itself was very quiet and peaceful, which suited us. As we were in a tent close to the adjacent road, we could hear vehicles passing by but nothing to spoil our stay. The facilities were fine, and kept as clean as the rest of the site. The staff were friendly and helpful. Being on the edge of the Cotswolds there are lots of interesting towns to visit. We could only stay two nights on this occasion but we would definitely return.

A good site. Handy for lovely countryside, small towns and Oxford.

A good site. Handy for lovely countryside, small towns and Oxford. Park and rides for Oxford very reasonable. 2 to park at Water Eaton and then 2.60 Return on the bus. You can use your Seniors travel card. The Tite Inn in nearby village is about a 25 min walk (all uphill on slight gradient on way back to site) but has a nice beer garden and friendly staff. All in all a lovely short stay.
