Overview

Our site a mile from the attractions of Oxford city. Catch a bus from outside the site.

City break or countryside adventure, the choice is yours if you camp at our Oxford Club campsite. Located just a mile outside the centre of Oxford, the campsite is the perfect base for exploring the magnificent city of dreaming spires. Camping in Oxford doesn't get any better than this.

It’s hard to believe this pleasant bolt hole is so close to the city. It's restful ambience makes it ideal to kick back and relax after a day pounding the streets of Oxford. Trees line this well laid out site, pitches are level and a good range of facilities are available.

Walk, cycle or catch the bus (there’s a stop right outside the site) into the city and you’ll find plenty to see and do. Don’t miss the University Museum of Natural History (the most complete remains of any single dodo are here) and the Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean Museums, the latter has 67 galleries to explore. A guided walking tour is the best way to see the University colleges and botanic Garden. There are themed tours too including an Inspector Morse and a Harry Potter Tour. And a punt on the River Cherwell is a must.

The countryside around Oxford has its own delights. Not to be missed is the magnificent Baroque house – Blenheim Palace and its fine parkland in Woodstock. The Oxfordshire Museum is here too and tells the story of Oxfordshire through its galleries and exhibitions. The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens is also worth a visit.

This really is the best of all the campsites in Oxford.

The site is a bit shabby & tied. Cut grass trampled into caravan. Handy for a lot of places. Park & ride facility very close. The site is of no use if you have any disability or very young children. Not enough toilets open.

Oxford is not a cheap site particularly for non-members including many overseas visitors, many of whom were voicing their disappointment when we were visiting. Facilities are amongst the poorest we have experienced anywhere. When we were there in April 7 out of 12 ladies toilets were out of action and 3 out of 7 in the gents. Also the position of the open air dish wash area right beside the chemical toilet disposal point has to be unacceptable. We recognise the effort put in by the site managers to try and maintain as good a hygiene standard as possible in very challenging circumstance. We believe there needs to be a proactive approach to improving this site's facilities including keeping members advised. Doing nothing, as it appears to have been over the last 8 years is no longer acceptable. This is a very important issue for the good name and reputation of our club.

A great site for easy access to Oxford -Colleges and their gardens, and other museums; so much to see and enjoy. Walk to Oxford via Thames or go from Park & Ride opposite - lots of buses. We had good days out to Stowe house and gardens, Blenheim Palace and grounds (Discounted tickets can be bought from Oxford tourist information office) and Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) Very pleased that Local Open Air pool only 10 minute walk away (water 26oC) opens from 7am each day from April to end October - had some very enjoyable swims The Oxford site team are very welcoming and are working hard - this is an older site that perhaps needs some refurbishment when the opportunity for the Club arises. We will be returning to this site - it is a very good base for an enjoyable holiday

The time of my visit was midweek in April and the site was not very busy. Immaculately kept site. With the written apologies from the staff of the lack of facilities, I was expecting a run down site but it was quite the opposite. Beautifully looked after by the staff. Fabulous hot water all day and toilet block kept very clean. Very happy and will be returning again in the next couple of months to finish off the siteseeing in Oxford city. Cycled along the river directly into Oxford took 10-15 mins max. Great location of site for city visit.
