Overview

Our site a mile from the attractions of Oxford city. Catch a bus from outside the site.

City break or countryside adventure, the choice is yours if you camp at our Oxford Club campsite. Located just a mile outside the centre of Oxford, the campsite is the perfect base for exploring the magnificent city of dreaming spires. Camping in Oxford doesn't get any better than this.

It’s hard to believe this pleasant bolt hole is so close to the city. It's restful ambience makes it ideal to kick back and relax after a day pounding the streets of Oxford. Trees line this well laid out site, pitches are level and a good range of facilities are available.

Walk, cycle or catch the bus (there’s a stop right outside the site) into the city and you’ll find plenty to see and do. Don’t miss the University Museum of Natural History (the most complete remains of any single dodo are here) and the Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean Museums, the latter has 67 galleries to explore. A guided walking tour is the best way to see the University colleges and botanic Garden. There are themed tours too including an Inspector Morse and a Harry Potter Tour. And a punt on the River Cherwell is a must.

The countryside around Oxford has its own delights. Not to be missed is the magnificent Baroque house – Blenheim Palace and its fine parkland in Woodstock. The Oxfordshire Museum is here too and tells the story of Oxfordshire through its galleries and exhibitions. The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens is also worth a visit.

This really is the best of all the campsites in Oxford.

we like visiting the Oxford site as it is so easy to get into town on bus or foot and there is a lot to see in Oxford. There are shops and pubs very nearby and the river in 5 minutes walk. It is a shame that Go Outdoors who own the site will not co-operate with the club and allow much needed improvements.

The location for Oxford City and Park and Ride access was our reason for staying here. The facilities are very poor as previously reported. The welcome was friendly and due to the weather we were placed on the road not a pitch. This would have been ok if the site had not been grid locked when we had to leave. We had to go on the grass to get round Motorhomes to get off site , We got stuck in the mud with 4tonne of motorhome....The duty warden assisted us as did a couple of other campers for which we are very grateful. For those who sat in their vans drinking tean and watching us struggle you are in the wrong club. For all the sites faults we would probably stop again as its so convenient for a great city, so CCC please invest even if its in temp portacabin type facilities.

This is a basic site but has very good access to Oxford via the park and ride service just opposite the campsite (it's free if you have a senior citizen bus pass). During our stay I was ill and needed to see a doctor. Staff were very helpful with information for a local surgery. The site is clean and the staff friendly and welcoming. We visited in January when the weather had been very wet but the site management made sure hard standing was available

The Good Very friendly welcome; directed to pitch by site team and ensured all relevant information regarding refuse, facilities understood. Winter parking on the tarmacced area rather than on grass. Large amenity block with very good showers. The 'Areas for Development' The amenity block was looking tired in certain areas - a mish-mash of taps on the sinks, cracked tiles not in keeping with the cleanliness which was evidently striven for. Parking on the tarmac 'service' roads nose to stern with other vans meant that it was potentially difficult to get the truck out to go and explore, or having to wait for other campers to move their vehicles before you could get out - to the annoyance of all involved. Also the entry to the site is not well signposted from the Oxford bypass (down the left hand side of the Go Outdoors shop) but well sign-posted from the city centre side.
