Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
Whilst the majority of Certificated Sites do permit children, please be aware that this site has chosen to be Adults Only.

Open 1st March – 30 September Certificated Site of the Year 2012. The site is located off the Manton to Edith Weston road on the south shore of Rutland Water. Situated adjacent to the popular cycle route around the reservoir (17 miles, or 23 if you take in the peninsular) the site also offers panoramic views across the water. An ideal place for bird watchers as Osprey can often be seen in the spring/summer, and a short walk to the Nature Reserve with its wealth of information in the visitor centre. The two acre level site has electricity, but no toilets or shower facilities. Members also have access to a further 3 acres of pasture land for dog exercising or other forms of recreation. There are also public footpaths nearby. The Horse and Jockey public house in nearby Manton village, offers an excellent pint and good quality pub grub. Nearby attractions also include fishing, sailing, rock climbing, cycle hire, waking and bird watching. A round the water bus route, introduced in 2012, passes within 200 yards of the site with a stop at that point, (pensioner’s passes accepted). This gives access to Oakham and Uppingham with further public transport connections.

We had a great weekend staying on this site.

This review is for The Paddock

We had a great weekend staying on this site. Brian was there with a friendly welcome when we arrived & offered plenty of info about the area. The site is immaculately kept with loads of space & huge pitches. There are some great walks from the site & our two labs loved it here. Oakham is well worth a visit & we enjoyed it's farmers market. We will be back here next season as we still have loads to explore in the area.

We were due to stay for four nights.

We were due to stay for four nights. We asked if could move to a different pitch on first day and accepted when told no. On third evening, when commented on an other van moving and saying I had never felt so disappointed in a site, we were told to leave immediately. We were told very rudely. Were treated dreadful. Went to the site opposite who made us extremely welcome.

This is a wonderful site overlooking Rutland water and surrounding countryside.

This is a wonderful site overlooking Rutland water and surrounding countryside. Apart from water, garbage disposal and CPD there are no other facilities and this is one of the attractions. Such facilities as are provided are thoughtfully screened and meticulously maintained. The surrounding villages and small towns are a delight. In all a site set in glorious countryside with lots to do without driving more than a very few miles.
