Overview

Where Shropshire meets Wales

Enjoy our peaceful, family run site set in the rolling pasturelands of Shropshire providing you with an excellent base from which to explore the area by car, foot, cycle or public transport.

The north loop of the Shropshire Way covering 297 miles of stunning countryside with extensive views of hills and plains was completed in 2013 and passes within one mile of the site. Walkers and cyclists can also enjoy way-marked trails in Nesscliffe Country Park.

There are two World Heritage Sites within easy reach; Ironbridge Gorge and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and you can also visit the stunning Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfalls, four National Trust properties and five Heritage Railways.

Nearby attractions with something for all the family include Park Hall Countryside Experience, Whittington Castle, Acton Scott, Wroxeter, Lake Vyrnwy, Ellesmere and RAF Museum, Cosford.

Food, Flower, Music, Walking & Literary Festivals take place throughout the year at Oswestry, Shrewsbury & Llangollen.

Our new social room “The Barn” was built in 2013 and regular events are held throughout the year including the Site Birthday Party in August and New Year celebrations, Bingo, Quiz and Games Nights.

This is a great site, easily reached and with bus stops outside for trips to either Shrewsbury or Oswestry, both worth a visit. Facilities are super clean and warm and local info is available as well as free WiFi. The site is well laid out and you can choose either to be in a more scenic area or near the loos. We were lucky to be on a pitch with a bird table beside us and had a ringside view of a wide variety of birds including a nuthatch and a greater spotted woodpecker. Would definitely recommend it.

Would recommend the wardens provide a comments book with the chance for others to get an idea about local attractions. Apart from that it is an excellent site.

Made to feel very welcome. The facilities were good and clean.

Made to feel very welcome. The facilities were good and clean. The site has an open feel to it although it is not a big site. Being close to the A5 there is some minor background road noise but we didn't feel that this was annoying and it certainly wouldn't stop us going there again. All in all, I would say that the site would appeal to older couples rather than those with kids. It is peaceful and great for public transport to local towns which have a regular service right outside the entrance. Nearest pub is about 2 miles in either direction, again on a bus route.
