Get away from it all at this peaceful, no-frills campsite in the Shropshire countryside.

The peaceful setting of our Ebury Club campsite is the perfect base from which to explore the local countryside, towns and villages of Shropshire.

The area is steeped in history. In fact, pitch up at Ebury Hill and you’ll be camping on a little piece of history – nearly 3,000 years ago the area was an Iron Age hill fort.

Today the site provides a peaceful haven for campers and an abundance of local wildlife including squirrels, badgers, rabbits and birds. The campsite is split over two levels and boasts an attractive fishing lake stocked with carp, perch, roach and tench. And walkers will appreciate the many walks through fields and woods from the site.

Shropshire is steeped in history. To find out about the area’s historic past a trip to Ironbridge Gorge is a must. Blessed with not just a beautiful setting, this is an UNESCO World Heritage List site and a monument to the Industrial revolution. Ten award-winning museums bring the Victorian era to life through its many interactive exhibits and displays.

One of the country’s largest Roman settlements at Wroxeter is another place where you can step back in time or how about a trip on the Severn Valley Railway? Steam-hauled trains run between Bridgenorth and Kidderminster.

Other popular attractions include the RAF Museum at Cosford and Telford with its many shops and leisure options.

Please note, because of restrictions relating to the historical significance of this campsite, it has no toilet or showers (other than a toilet for backpackers only, see Worth Noting), so you will need suitable facilities in your unit.

Having stayed at Ebury Hill on several occasions it is a haven for wildlife and nature lovers. Be aware you need your own toilet facilities as there is only fresh drinking water and Elson waste disposal. The new management team are very approachable and helpful nothing was too much trouble. The only downside was we had to go home ! But we will be back Many thanks.

One of our favourite camping and caravanning sites.

This review is for Ebury Hill

One of our favourite camping and caravanning sites. Set on top of a hill in partly wooded surroundings. New management team this year (2016) who are very welcoming and friendly. No toilet or shower block so the site can be suited to those who prefer quieter sites. Lake on site is available for fishing (mostly carp and pike, etc). Well situated for visiting Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Bridgnorth and the Ironbridge Gorge museums as well as RAF Cosford. Plenty of rural walks from the campsite. The Dog in the Lane pub about a mile and a half away is excellent for food.

on this occasion we were pitched just behind reception which was fine but they have recently moved the rubbish bins across to just behind the back of these pitches and people were constantly walking through the middle of our pitch between my sisters and my van and as we both have dogs setting them off all the time apparently according to another camper who i was talking to this was not always the case and they used to be more central which would be better perhaps by the chemical disposal it did make for a bit af an annoying visit this time but i will not take anything away from this site as we love it here close to shrewsbury and plenty to do in the area as well as plenty of fantastic walking hope the bin issue can be sorted we shall be back

A visit to Shrewsbury & Bridgnorth is a must & recommend you use the park & ride as it's a bit of a pain to park in Shrewsbury... Saturday is Market day in Bridgnorth where we bought lots of goodies... The only very, very minor point about the site is that the taps to fill your water carriers are too high & as we use a 40 litre aquaroll, you can't hold the container up to the tap because it's far too heavy, if you don't have a pipe only half of the water goes in the carrier & the rest down the grid, so you need a pipe to connect to the tap but the one we have just wouldn't stay on the tap & it's quite new... We'll be taking a screw on connector with a push fit next time & recommend everyone carries one in their van... The toilet waste facility is one of the best & the site is great for dogs with a dog walk with specified dog bins
