The surrounding area

Our Minehead Club campsite lies just outside the stunning Exmoor National Park, close to the beaches of the Exmoor Heritage Coast and a mile-and-a-half from the Minehead, Somerset’s largest seaside resort.

There are lovely walks from the site including a lovely wooded walk into Minehead centre. Minehead is also the starting point for the South West Coast Path, a long-distance trail that follows the coast to Poole. The town is also the terminus of the West Somerset Steam Railway, which travels through 20 miles of stunning coastal and countryside scenery.

South of the campsite, Wimbleball Reservoir offers sailing, canoeing and wind surfing – launch your own craft or hire from the lake’s activity centre. Anglers have been known to catch rainbow trout here. You can fish from the banks or hire a boat. There is nine-mile walking and cycling track around the lake too.

Access and SatNav Advice

Although access to the Site from Minehead town centre (as shown on map) is very steep and twisting, we do not advise any other route as alternative lane is too narrow. Please Do Not Use SatNav please follow map directions ONLY.

Worth Noting

Our Minehead campsite is unable to accept Caravans. Some pitches are sloping and chocks will be required.

Friendly welcome. Stunning view. Ground not level so chocks a definite. Staff very friendly and helpful. Facilities clean. Drive into site was a bit difficult as we used sat nav that took us through the old village which was very narrow. Plenty to do in Minehead itself. Lovely walks around site though could be a bit challenging for those with walking difficulties. Nice peaceful break. Already planning to go back next year.

We had a great stay at this site. The view over the bay are wonderful. Very friendly and helpful site staff. Highly recommended. The slight slope was a little tricky to manage with the trailer tent but this could be solved with blocks.

The shower block does not have secluded wash basins or baby changing facilities or a family room which makes it awkward for families with young children to use. The facilities were kept clean and tidy but they could do with another shower block for the amount of people on the site or at least updating this one. The site is in a beautiful location and attracts a lot of walkers. I think they could probably do with a few more pitches with electric as well and maybe more water points. We enjoyed our stay and will no doubt use the site again in the future.

The staff were welcoming and the reception well equipped.

The staff were welcoming and the reception well equipped. The shower /toilet block need updating.Whilst the facilities work the showers and toilet components are worn. They are, however, very clean and the site grounds well maintained. Non hard standing and tent pitches need to be defined it is a bit of a free for all and camper vans keep moving. Far better if they stay on a marked pitch. Ready camp pitches, I feel, are overpowering and noisy when occupied with children and tend to spoil the site appearance. For real experience/treat take a taxi back from town - the ride is hair raising. If you need it 4G phones work well. Really enjoyed our stay as it was country/coast and town all in one place
