    Top site for beaches

Look out to sea from our campsite on this Somerset hillside.

Our Minehead Club campsite lies just outside the stunning Exmoor National Park, close to the beaches of the Exmoor Heritage Coast and a mile-and-a-half from the Minehead, Somerset’s largest seaside resort.

Not only does this campsite enjoy a prime coastal location in a peaceful setting, its views over-looking the Bristol channel, woodland and the town are second to none. A spacious site, Minehead has 60 pitches including some serviced pitches and good central site facilities.

There are lovely walks from the site including a lovely wooded walk into Minehead centre. Minehead is also the starting point for the South West Coast Path, a long-distance trail that follows the coast to Poole. The town is also the terminus of the West Somerset Steam Railway, which travels through 20 miles of stunning coastal and countryside scenery.

South of the campsite, Wimbleball Reservoir offers sailing, canoeing and wind surfing – launch your own craft or hire from the lake’s activity centre. Anglers have been known to catch rainbow trout here. You can fish from the banks or hire a boat. There is nine-mile walking and cycling track around the lake too.

To find out more about Exmoor National Park, there’s a visitor centre at Dunster. The medieval town is also home to a castle and a working water mill.

Access and SatNav Advice

Although access to the Site from Minehead town centre (as shown on map) is very steep and twisting, we do not advise any other route as alternative lane is too narrow. Please Do Not Use SatNav please follow map directions ONLY.

Worth Noting

Lovely site with such a happy Welcome fro Graham and John.

Lovely site with such a happy Welcome fro Graham and John. Excellent Service from Booking in to leaving nothing is an issue or problem for them to assist in any enquiries. They are both knowledgable of the site and its surrounding area and what is on offer for your enjoyment. Their little shop caters for all your needs. The Showers and Toilets are monitored throughout the day and is always a good supply of the essentials. They are extremely clean and fresh. No odours here! The pot washing area is spotless and kept clean and fresh also. I noticed the beautiful array of plants, bedding pots and hanging baskets outside on the entrance area around the shop and roadway. I believe Graham's wife has done all these. They really are beautiful and make the presentation picture perfect. Even small pots in the wash area just give that little extra touch. Fantastic time had and really look forward to visiting again soon.

We asked a friendly couple, {also in a motorhome} and the manager of a well known shop in Minehead, if they knew of a campsite with a view, on the level, and an open site, as we didn't want to be shaded by trees. They all recommended 'Hill Road Caravan and Camping Site' and thought this would suit us. We were NOT disappointed. A lovely site, with amazing views over Minehead and surrounding areas. We were able to pitch with plenty of space between ourselves and other campers. The showers were free and a good size. It had all the amenities you could wish for and all very clean, and clearly marked. We would have loved to have stayed longer, and will definitely go back to this site again. We had a very relaxing time, which was just what we were looking for at this time. Thankyou to those kind people who took the trouble to recommend this site to us.

This site was ideal for me, as a single father with two small children (3 and 6) on our first holiday as a family of three. It was also my first time camping since childhood. The drive up North Hill is steep and narrow in places, but we managed to get up and down in our motorhome. Most pitches are not level, but we had blocks to put under the wheels. Everyone was friendly, engaging and helpful (staff and fellow campers). Site was tidy and clean, nothing broken. Plenty of easy parking on the seafront. Good access to beach, cafes and shops. Supermarket in main street. Easy, convenient facilities for a single dad with young kids.

We have just come back from 4 nights here and both want to book again.

We have just come back from 4 nights here and both want to book again. Very friendly helpful welcome by the site manager. We had a lovely pitch it was very large for our tent. The electric hookup had no problem, it does sometimes on other sites we have stayed at. This site is very peaceful, clean, friendly and a great base for walkers. Its a 25 minute slow walk down through a lovely path through woodland - all down hill leading to the church. The scenery is stunning and we loved every minute of our stay. The shower block was basic and spotless. Showers were hot and the little shop on site is very useful and not overpriced. There is a little van that visits approx 9.30am daily and peeps to announce arrival. I think he has fresh things like bread eggs milk. Also newspapers. We never used him but it may be useful for other visitors. Excellent club site.
