Great site for couples
Our site in the Mendips between Wells and Cheddar, and surrounded by walking country.
Our gorgeous Cheddar Club campsite is set in the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills – an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its rural location on the edge of the village of Priddy – the highest village on the Mendip Hills – makes this the perfect location for a relaxing break.
The well laid out site has excellent show and toilet facilities, including a family room, plus a laundry, and a well-stocked licensed shop selling local produce. Special rates are available for backpackers arriving on foot or by bike. And there are two well-equipped holiday caravans for hire, each sleeping up to six people.
Within walking distance is the village of Priddy. Here you’ll find a couple of pubs and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced meats and home-made pies. Priddy also hosts two popular events – a folk festival in July and sheep fair in August.
Further afield Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Longleat and the cities of Bath and Wells are waiting to be explored.
Cheddar currently holds an AA 4 Pennant Award and a 4 Star Visit Britain Award
If you fancy leaving the unit behind, consider a hassle free break in one of our new holiday caravans. Our self-catering options sleep 4-6 people and have all the creature comforts of home. For more information check out our self catering pages – Read More

We stayed in one of the two static caravans. Spotlessly clean. Very warm welcome from the wardens, who we discovered had been to lots of places we had travelled to in Australia, made for a happy chat. Had a quick walk around campsite, which was sloping. lovely location and good pub with food in local village. Local farm shop does beautiful food and a fantastic breakfast. very centrally placed for our trips to Bristol, Bath, Glastonbury, wells, Weston etc.

We couldn't find fault with this site. It is as described in the club's details except there is only one pub in Priddy serving very good 'pub grub'.
If you are on the hard standing you will need rock pegs and a good strong hammer for your awning! The tent site is on a slope with only a few level pitches.
The facilities were spotless, thanks to Fiona. Choice of individual showers or wet rooms with toilet and wash hand basin. Toilets and washing/dressing cubicles. Family wet room and parent and child wet room with nappy changing facilities.
Excellent indoor veg prep and washing up facilities together with laundry room with iron and board.
Well stocked shop with delicious home made bread and wonderful local ice cream - can recommend the chocolate!
Nearby farm shop which also does breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas.
Managers and their assistants couldn't have been better. We didn't see them without a smile on their faces - mind you with the site set in such a beautiful, quiet place everyone was smiling.
Short dog walk the length of the site, so those of you with pooches will have to wander a bit farther afield for their constitutional. Although on the walks we went on they would have to have a touch of 'Red Rum' in their blood to leap over the stiles.
Not much for children - just two swings and a small slide - but they can always 'just play' - there is nothing nicer than the laughter of children!
Plenty of places to visit and a great walking area with gorges to climb or just watch the rock climbers at Cheddar Gorge. If you are a pot hole enthusiast, you will be in your element.

The site staff were all very friendly and helpful and the site shop is well stocked.
The noisiest factor were the birds and herd of bulls in the next field but neither were intrusive.
The local pub in the village, the Queen Victoria is a typical old country establishment with good food and a great atmosphere.
The village church dates from 1320 and has a mid 15th century altar cloth on display. The green is also host to a sheep fair that has been running since 1348, but has been cancelled for 2014.
The site is very well maintained but, if you are camping in a tent, avoid pitch 40 as there is a large dip in the middle which is hidden by the grass. We discovered it after we had pitched our tent! Also the floor of the gents' toilet and shower block was slippery when wet. The shower is operated by a pull chord. This turns on the shower which cannot be cannot be varied in power or temperature. If it is too hot or cold or the power isn't comfortable, hard luck.
Otherwise it is a very pleasant venue.

This was our first time camping with the club, we chose this site because the reviews were good. We were not disappointed, the site was clean and well kept, Chris and Val the wardens there were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them, they were always on the go cleaning and making the site a pleasure for us to stay. Facilities were always clean showers very good, washing facilities good.
Chris even helped me to roll up our tent when we were leaving, which was a sad time as neither of us wanted to leave. I would recommend this site to campers and caravaners, a site not to be missed.
Many thanks to Chris and Val for making our stay a real pleasure, thank you both.

“Had a wonderful 4 days at this lovely site.
Bakery on site so had fresh croissants and pain au chocolat for final day breakfast. Also tried the local pub for great food, beer and cider and a short walk home to walk it off! Highly recommended.”
