Overview

  • A popular site for couples

    Great site for couples

Our site is on the edge of the village of Priddy, the highest in the Mendips.

Our gorgeous Cheddar Club Site is set in the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's an ideal base to explore the area for walking, cycling, caving and rock climbing activities.

The well laid out site has excellent shower and toilet facilities, including a family room, plus a laundry and a well-stocked licensed shop selling local produce. Special rates are available for backpackers arriving on foot or by bike. There are two well-equipped holiday caravans for hire, each sleeping up to six people.

You can walk to the village or Priddy where you'll find a popular pub serving food just 3/4 mile from the site and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced meats and home-made pies. Priddy also hosts a popular folk festival in July and other events throughout the year. There are also many other pubs and restaurants in the local area.

There are many attractions in Somerset and the surrounding area including Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury, Longleat Safari Park and the cities of Bath and Wells are waiting to be explored.

Cheddar currently holds an AA 4 Pennant Award.

If you fancy leaving the unit behind, consider a hassle free break in one of our two holiday caravans. Our self-catering options sleep 4-6 people and have all the creature comforts of home. For more information check out our self catering pages Read More

Worth Noting

The site is 45 minutes towing time from M4 Junction 18 and M5 Junction 23. Not all pitches are flat and chocks are advised. There is no on-site dog walk, but there is a local footpath near the main gate. Please note that there may be sheep, cattle or horses in the fields, and your dog must be kept on a lead. The footpaths may become very muddy during wet weather, so stout shoes or wellingtons are recommended.

WiFi

WiFi is available at this site. However please note the service is supplied by a different provider therefore your Site WiFi card (powered by WiComs) cannot be used. Please contact the site direct for more information.

Eat Local

Site shop stocks locally-produced preserves, pork, beef, chicken, eggs, cider and ales. Bread and pastries baked on site. A farm butcher is next door and village pubs serve local produce. Farmers’ Market is held in Wells on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Honestly the next campsite ever! Immaculately looked after, beautiful views, peaceful, real friendly welcome even when turning up at 7 rather than 4 like we originally planned! We have a 2.5 year old and the parent and child shower room was just spot on, big and little shower with a baby bath so just filled the bath up for him whilst me and hubby sorted ourselves out, it really made a massive difference! And the fresh croissants and pain au cholat in the mornings where the best! Everything is provided and the staff are so friendly, with a little shop of food and camping. Essentials we will defiantly be coming back! Pitches are lovely and big and a little park in the corner for the kids! Just down the road is cheddar gorge and wookey hole, and only 30 mins from Weston s mare, perfect location, perfect site, perfect little holiday! ??

This review is for Cheddar Mendip Heights

lots to do around the area - wells, cheddar, wookey, glastonbury, bath, bristol, breen/weston-super-mare. strawberry line cycle route. wonderful mendip countryside for walking. quite small for a club site you can see every pitch from standing in entrance. games area for children is very small and too close to pitches - annoying if you are on those pitches. really needs a ball games field adjoining the site to be of any use. wifi more or less unusable and not good value at 10 for the week because of how poor it was. Was warned at purchase that it was "slow", but 3 or 4 of the 7 days we were there we had no connection at all. and I do know what I am talking about. As there is little or no mobile phone reception either, certainly not enough for data, you are out of touch on this site. I don't need heavy internet when on a site - just enough to check the weather and local attraction details.

This review is for Cheddar Mendip Heights

We stayed over the late May Bank Holiday, and had a great time. The local pub is 20 minutes walk away. Cheddar and Cheddar Gorge are really close, and it is easy to get to Wells, Glastonbury, and even over to the coast. I can highly recommend this site.

“Had a wonderful 4 days at this lovely site. Bakery on site so had fresh croissants and pain au chocolat for final day breakfast. Also tried the local pub for great food, beer and cider and a short walk home to walk it off! Highly recommended.”
