Overview

  • A popular site for couples

    Great site for couples

Our site in the Mendips  between Wells and Cheddar, and surrounded by walking country.

Our gorgeous Cheddar Club campsite is set in the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills – an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its rural location on the edge of the village of Priddy – the highest village on the Mendip Hills – makes this the perfect location for a relaxing break.

The well laid out site has excellent show and toilet facilities, including a family room, plus a laundry, and a well-stocked licensed shop selling local produce. Special rates are available for backpackers arriving on foot or by bike. And there are two well-equipped holiday caravans for hire, each sleeping up to six people.

Within walking distance is the village of Priddy. Here you’ll find a couple of pubs and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced meats and home-made pies. Priddy also hosts two popular events – a folk festival in July and sheep fair in August.

Further afield Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Longleat and the cities of Bath and Wells are waiting to be explored.

Cheddar currently holds an AA 4 Pennant Award and a 4 Star Visit Britain Award

If you fancy leaving the unit behind, consider a hassle free break in one of our new holiday caravans. Our self-catering options sleep 4-6 people and have all the creature comforts of home. For more information check out our self catering pages Read More

I visited this site with my wife and 14 year old son.

This review is for Cheddar Mendip Heights

I visited this site with my wife and 14 year old son. The welcome we received was first class, advice and help was good. This is a relatively small site. There is not a lot for teenagers to do about this site. Local attractions are within reasonable travelling distance ( Wookey hole, Cheddar Gorge, Wells, and Glastonbury). Further afield are Bristol and Longleat are within a 1 hour drive. The only fault we could find we could find, was that the road adjacent to the site was busy with aggricultiral and delivery vehicles early in the morning. Overall I would recommend this site.

A beautiful site with some of the nicest staff I've ever met.

A beautiful site with some of the nicest staff I've ever met. They really went out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. The site has a very pronounced slope however which is worth considering. Not a problem with caravans but quite bad for those of us with tents. A great site, in a great spot near to Wells, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge etc and well worth a visit.

This review is for Cheddar Mendip Heights

We stayed here with our 10 year old grandson, not a lot for him to do on site as the play area is quite small and basic but he found friends to play with and had a good time. Excellent location for Cheddar, Wookey Hole, Wells and Bath plus much more. Although we didn't participate a good location for walks. The site shop bakes fresh croissants, bread and sausage rolls etc. Not a massive site and all of it, including hard standings, are on a gentle slope. Apparantley Council wouldn't allow levelling because it is in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

We stayed in one of the two static caravans. Spotlessly clean.

We stayed in one of the two static caravans. Spotlessly clean. Very warm welcome from the wardens, who we discovered had been to lots of places we had travelled to in Australia, made for a happy chat. Had a quick walk around campsite, which was sloping. lovely location and good pub with food in local village. Local farm shop does beautiful food and a fantastic breakfast. very centrally placed for our trips to Bristol, Bath, Glastonbury, wells, Weston etc.

“Had a wonderful 4 days at this lovely site. Bakery on site so had fresh croissants and pain au chocolat for final day breakfast. Also tried the local pub for great food, beer and cider and a short walk home to walk it off! Highly recommended.”
