Overview

  • A popular site for couples

    Great site for couples

Our site is on the edge of the village of Priddy, the highest in the Mendips.

Our gorgeous Cheddar Club Site is set in the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's an ideal base to explore the area for walking, cycling, caving and rock climbing activities.

The well laid out site has excellent shower and toilet facilities, including a family room, plus a laundry and a well-stocked licensed shop selling local produce. Special rates are available for backpackers arriving on foot or by bike. There are two well-equipped holiday caravans for hire, each sleeping up to six people.

You can walk to the village or Priddy where you'll find a popular pub serving food just 3/4 mile from the site and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced meats and home-made pies. Priddy also hosts a popular folk festival in July and other events throughout the year. There are also many other pubs and restaurants in the local area.

There are many attractions in Somerset and the surrounding area including Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury, Longleat Safari Park and the cities of Bath and Wells are waiting to be explored.

Cheddar currently holds an AA 4 Pennant Award.

If you fancy leaving the unit behind, consider a hassle free break in one of our new holiday caravans. Our self-catering options sleep 4-6 people and have all the creature comforts of home. For more information check out our self catering pages Read More

Worth Noting

Two holiday caravans available to let - find out more. Some pitches are slightly sloping. Due to unforeseen circumstances we are no longer able to give campers access to the dog walk along the drovers track at the bottom of our site. However there are many public footpaths in the area, the closest of which is opposite the entrance to our site. Please note that there may be sheep, cattle or horses in the fields, and your dog must be kept on a lead. The footpaths may become very muddy during wet weather, so stout shoes or wellingtons are recommended.

WiFi

WiFi is available at this site. However please note the service is supplied by a different provider therefore your Site WiFi card (powered by WiComs) cannot be used. Please contact the site direct for more information.

Eat Local

The site shop stocks locally-produced bacon, sausage, lamb, burgers, chicken, eggs, cheese, cider and ales. Bread and pastries are baked on site. There is a farm butcher next to site and a farmers’ market in Wells. The village pub serves local produce.

We took a late booking punt with this site and wasn't disappointed.

We took a late booking punt with this site and wasn't disappointed. Friendly and helpful from the outset - we are already earmarking this site for next year. What swayed it was the ability to prebook fresh bread for the next morning.

All round excellent site! Clean and tidy, really liked the mixture of toilet/toilet and sink/toilet sink and shower options. Showers great, (no continuous pressing of buttons as they stay on) and spacious cubicles. Well stocked shop, including wine. A small site so even when busy, rarely queue for anything. One suggestion, please improve the play park area as in need of some updating. Close by Wells (smallest city) is absolutely lovely and seems to have everything, cathedral definitely worth a visit. Cheddar gorge and all related activities were enjoyed by all our children (wide range of ages). Staff at this site extremely helpful and did their very best to ensure we had the best stay possible.

Overall this site is absolutely fine. I have no complaints just a couple of niggles.

Overall this site is absolutely fine. I have no complaints just a couple of niggles. I really don't like having to punch an access code to visit the bathroom and shower. I guess it is because the facilities block is on a main road. Our pitch was next to the road too, so a little noisy. The staff were friendly and helpful but lacked knowledge of local walking paths and routes. It is a very popular site, pretty full last week.

“Had a wonderful 4 days at this lovely site. Bakery on site so had fresh croissants and pain au chocolat for final day breakfast. Also tried the local pub for great food, beer and cider and a short walk home to walk it off! Highly recommended.”
