Overview

  • A popular site for couples

    Great site for couples

Our site in the Mendips  between Wells and Cheddar, and surrounded by walking country.

Our gorgeous Cheddar Club campsite is set in the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills – an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its rural location on the edge of the village of Priddy – the highest village on the Mendip Hills – makes this the perfect location for a relaxing break.

The well laid out site has excellent show and toilet facilities, including a family room, plus a laundry, and a well-stocked licensed shop selling local produce. Special rates are available for backpackers arriving on foot or by bike. And there are two well-equipped holiday caravans for hire, each sleeping up to six people.

Within walking distance is the village of Priddy. Here you’ll find a couple of pubs and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced meats and home-made pies. Priddy also hosts two popular events – a folk festival in July and sheep fair in August.

Further afield Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Longleat and the cities of Bath and Wells are waiting to be explored.

Cheddar currently holds an AA 4 Pennant Award and a 4 Star Visit Britain Award

If you fancy leaving the unit behind, consider a hassle free break in one of our new holiday caravans. Our self-catering options sleep 4-6 people and have all the creature comforts of home. For more information check out our self catering pages Read More

we booked to stay on 15 & 16 August on our way to Cornwall; we new we were going to be there after 8pm and advised the site who waited for us and showed us to our pitch. The staff are very helpful and polite. We then went to Cornwall and were on a site that packed units with no regard to space limits, we were so fed up of the facilities on this site we called to see if we could book them from the 28 August and stayed untill 31 August. The showers and toilets were spotlessly clean and the water hot. the bread from the shop in the morning was wonderful and sometimes still warm! The access to Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge is fantastic. The area is beautiful. Our son enjoyed the park area and dog area is as it says a dog area for them to do what they have to do. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

We had a pleasant stay at Cheddar Mendip Heights.

We had a pleasant stay at Cheddar Mendip Heights. This was part of a longer touring holiday and unfortunately, I struggled to agree with the glowing reviews. So many people can't be wrong though so it must be a case of personal preference I guess. The toilets/showers were well cleaned but the contained my campsite nightmare.... a mop and bucket. I don't understand why some sites still use these. The mop sits in stale water all day and ends up smelling, then hair just gets caught up in the mop (in the ladies showers), the result is dirty water and matted hair being dragged around the floor when you're trying to leave it clean. The squeegy type things are much more hygenic. We booked a pitch with an awning but the pitch we were given did not have enough room for our awning (it's not particularly big). It had a steep grass 2 foot ledge at the side which meant we couldn't even edge onto the grass with it. In fairness, they may have moved us on request but we had set up before we realised that this was going to be a problem and by this point, my hubby wasn't going to faff about moving again. As I say, pleasant enough but not blown away by any means.

On arrival we met Andy & Maria who were very friendly and really helpful. Chose the site as it was our first trip out with our caravan. Andy gave us some good advice on how to set up and if we needed any thing it wasn't too much trouble. shower/toilet/wash facilities were very clean and never left in a mess. The dog walk area was small but in the setting that you have at this site it is only used for a quick walk before bed or early morning as you have lovely walks close by to exercise your dog. The site is close to Wells, Cheddar and Bristol or Bath isn't far either. We will definitely use the site again for a weekend trip out so that we can enjoy the lovely scenery and relax.

very nice well kept site, my only niggle is, the price of the goods in the onsite shop, a bit on the expensive side, the site is set nicely in the country side. a few miles from Cheddar Gorge, (which can be a nightmare to drive through in peak season) very handy for visiting Glastonbury & Wells, market day on Wednesday in Wells & the Cathederal is well worth a visit, the only problem with any places like these is the PARKING, get there early or its a nightmare to find anywhere close to the places to visit, Highly recomended

“Had a wonderful 4 days at this lovely site. Bakery on site so had fresh croissants and pain au chocolat for final day breakfast. Also tried the local pub for great food, beer and cider and a short walk home to walk it off! Highly recommended.”
