    Great site for families

Enjoy the thrills of Alton Towers and beautiful Peak District from this Club Site.

The Peak District National Park is right on the doorstep of our Alton, The Star Club campsite. This attractive, well maintained family-friendly site is perfectly placed for Alton Towers theme park – just a mile from site. Similarly those who enjoy heading off into the great outdoors will not be disappointed with some great walking country right on the doorstep.

A bus stop right outside the site will deliver you to Alton Towers and its host of family attractions, ranging from adrenaline-fuelled roller coasters through to gentler rides for little ones, in minutes.

Carsington Water and Visitor Centre, north east of the campsite, offers a wide range of activities for all the family on and off the water including miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore, a children’s play area, fishing and many water sports.

While Stoke-on-Trent may not be an obvious tourist destination you can see the Anglo-Saxon treasures of The Staffordshire Hoard at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery here. There’s also the Wedgewood Visitor Centre full of artefacts, some dating back to Josiah Wedgewood – the man who started the pottery industry as we know it today.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Self-catering accommodation is available at this campsite.

We used this site many years ago when it was privately owned and having just spent a week-end here we were most impressed with the improvements since the club has taken it on. The countryside around the site is beautiful and there are many good walks directly from the site. There are also some cycle friendly lanes adjacent to the site. The whole area reminds us much of our favourite club site at Youlgrave but with all the facilities and without the hair raising approach. We will certainly use it in the future.

Many thanks to Rob and his staff for making our visit a great experience. Everyone worked so hard all the time we were there and always with a smile. The weather was terrible and Rob was at our caravan first thing to say when we were ready to leave they would help us to get towed off the grass pitch as there had been an awful lot of rain/sleet. Everywhere was clean and tidy and even though the site was full there was no litter about. Well done Rob and your team can't wait to come back.there is a lovely pub just 5min walk away that was very busy, menu looked nice and priced competitively.

Spent a very relaxing Easter weekend.

Spent a very relaxing Easter weekend. The site was well looked after, the shower blocks a little bit dated but very clean and plenty of showers with plenty of hot water. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. On the leaving day the guys worked really hard to help move vans off of a muddy site (we had around 9 hours of relentless rain from storm Katie) Well done Guys!! Already booked for next Easter.

Just returned from an Easter Weekend break visiting Alton Towers. The site was great.

Just returned from an Easter Weekend break visiting Alton Towers. The site was great. We received a friendly welcome despite the managers having to stay open late for our arrival through Bank Holiday traffic! Facilities were clean and the play area was fabulous for our 8 & 5 year olds. Quick walk to the bus stop which took us straight to the theme park. However, there was only 1 bus a day on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, increasing to 2 on Saturday. We often tow our car, but didn't this time as we'd read about the bus. It was fine, we made our destination each day, but the worry of missing the bus added some stress to the holiday! Also only 1 or 2 buses to return in the evening, so if you want some freedom take your car. On departure, we attempted a super early getaway to avoid the traffic, but found the barrier didn't open until 7am. It would be helpful to have a sign on the gate to let campers know they are locked in between 11pm and 7am. We'd definitely stay again if we were planning a trip to Alton Towers, but next time we'll take the car!

“A group of friends and myself stayed at this site for 3 nights in June 2012. The site were brilliant and accommodating with our requests. The wardens were really friendly and chatty. The self catering caravan we stayed in was immaculate and even blankets were in the wardrobes which was good as the evenings were a little chilly. No complaints about the 'van and within 5 mins drive of Alton Towers (our main reason for the choice of site) As with any other club site, I would not hesitate in recommending this site or returning, I'm already planning a return trip next year!”
