    Great site for families

Enjoy the thrills of Alton Towers and beautiful Peak District from this Club Site.

The Peak District National Park is right on the doorstep of our Alton, The Star Club campsite. This attractive, well maintained family-friendly site is perfectly placed for Alton Towers theme park – just a mile from site. Similarly those who enjoy heading off into the great outdoors will not be disappointed with some great walking country right on the doorstep.

Carsington Water and Visitor Centre, north east of the campsite, offers a wide range of activities for all the family on and off the water including miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore, a children’s play area, fishing and many water sports.

While Stoke-on-Trent may not be an obvious tourist destination you can see the Anglo-Saxon treasures of The Staffordshire Hoard at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery here. There’s also the Wedgewood Visitor Centre full of artefacts, some dating back to Josiah Wedgewood – the man who started the pottery industry as we know it today.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Self-catering accommodation is available at this campsite.

Worth Noting

All grass pitches are sloping, therefore levelling blocks are required. Caravan Holiday Homes are available for purchase and hire.

Eat Local

The Ramblers Retreat country restaurant and coffee house in Alton sells homemade meals. Ye Olde Star Inn, a 500 yard amble from the site is a 19th Century Traditional Inn with a great atmosphere, food served daily.

We stayed a week at Alton, The Star, and can only think of positives to say.

This review is for Alton, The Star

We stayed a week at Alton, The Star, and can only think of positives to say. The site is suitable for anyone, but is sloping, so those with tents might have a bit of slope, but it's easy to cope with. The facilities are first rate, the team does a fantastic job of of cleaning and maintaining the grounds, and their hard work was very much appreciated. There's loads to do in the area. As others have said it's right by Alton Towers, and we really enjoyed being able to get there early. The fish and chip van that is there on Saturday night was very welcome after a day of travelling and was very tasty too. Fantastic week, can't wait to go back.

The site is close to Alton Towers Theme Park.

This review is for Alton, The Star

The site is close to Alton Towers Theme Park. There are some areas of the site that can be a bit hilly and the showers are lacking a shower curtain but overall it is a lovely site with lots of wildlife, would certainly return.

we booked in for 5 nights but only stayed 4 .

This review is for Alton, The Star

we booked in for 5 nights but only stayed 4 .staff polite on arrival but found it strange not given combination to gate even if we did want to come and go as we pleased !!...was shown to our pitch.. we was lucky our pitch was pretty flat but some caravans looked like they were about to tip over as ground is very unlevel.we was in a motorhome so no transport once hooked up .we paid £10each way for a mile journey up the road to alton towers in a taxi (was told by locals this was expensive so get the feeling they are making the most out of no buses )unfortunatley once hooked up with awning you are stuck if no transport .there is one local pub which did NOT allow dogs only in the garden as served food (not good in this weather to be freezing outside ) we ate at the star pub and cant fault it was lovely food, there are 2 bus stops at bottom of the site but NO BUSES run through this village.we only found this out on arrival. not good and not happy as nearest village 4 miles away and we wasn't about to fork out for a taxi there at the prices they charge (I think they have got you over a barrel on that one ) when booked this site we was not told via the club that the buses aren't running no more maybe they should let people know this or at least put on a free bus to Alton towers so unfortunately we was stuck with nowhere to go (only so many times you can visit the same pub ) so it spoilt our stay as we ended up loosing a night and came home a day early and at the price we paid per night I feel very disappointed for this..the only good thing was the day at alton towers. shower blocks could do with an update as no shower curtains hence clothes got drenched on hangers on door altho I found still ok to use. .all in all please take note if you don't have a car or puchbikes you are stuck in a village with not even a shop.would we stay again NO...

Simply cannot fault the friendly and excellent customer service from this site.

This review is for Alton, The Star

Simply cannot fault the friendly and excellent customer service from this site. We'd already had to postpone our trip once before (due to family illness) and they were so understanding. Then this time we suffered a tyre blowout en route and arrived 4/5 hours later than planned! Still not a problem, we were made very welcome and given a choice of two pitches they'd reserved for us to choose our favourite - brilliant idea which I truly appreciated, wish more sites did this. Sites were level and well spaced apart, lovely quiet site filled with greenery and birdsong - loved it! The toilet block and wash facilities are a little on the small and dated side for a site this big, but nice and clean, fully stocked with soap and loo roll so didn't spoil it for us for a minute. One mile down the road is Alton Towers (TIP: don't buy a two day pass as when leaving the theme park you're told you can "come again tomorrow for 10) so nice and close for a family day out. Loved this site and the lovely people running it made it a perfect weekend - Thank you!

“A group of friends and myself stayed at this site for 3 nights. The site were brilliant and accommodating with our requests. The wardens were really friendly and chatty. The self catering caravan we stayed in was immaculate and even blankets were in the wardrobes which was good as the evenings were a little chilly. No complaints about the 'van and within 5 mins drive of Alton Towers (our main reason for the choice of site) As with any other club site, I would not hesitate in recommending this site or returning, I'm already planning a return trip next year!”
