Overview

Camping by the banks of the picturesque Forth

Surrounded by majestic oak trees and situated right on the banks of the river Forth, Cobeland lets you holiday in the heart of Scotland’s first National Park. This idyllic camping site is set amid the forest and rugged mountains of the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, which offers a wealth of outdoor activities in a picturesque setting. Those with an adventurous nature will love the opportunities to explore the forest’s many footpaths and cycle paths as well as trying orienteering or going boating or canoeing at one of the nearby Lochs. If you would prefer a more relaxing break - there are plenty of picnic sites, fishing opportunities and walks through the forest where you see some of the Park’s fantastic wildlife including Red Squirrels.

Sat Nav direction advice: Coming from the Glasgow direction only - ignore the first sign for Gartmore Village and carry on along the A81 until they see a second sign for Cobleland/Gartmore on the left.

Just spent 13 days on this site- simply superb!Assistant WArdens Sandra and her husband went the extra mile to ensure we all enjoyed the spotless facilities and beautiful surroundings.Really peaceful during the week - is very popular at weekends with young families.Aberfoyle handy for supplies and local info. Beautifully situated site right next to River Forth and Queen Elizabeth Forest.

This review is for Cobleland - Trossachs

Beautifully situated site right next to River Forth and Queen Elizabeth Forest. Extremely helpful staff and facilities absolutely spotless. My 2 little girls, age 7 & 4 had a ball playing in play area and especially running through trees on site which had paths here and there. There was also a beautiful clearing 10 mins from site where kids could paddle about in the water or fish with their nets. Overall a great time was had by all, even the midges couldn't dampen it. Would definitely go back.

Cracking site with plenty to do, right on the water. Beautiful sheltered surroundings.

Cracking site with plenty to do, right on the water. Beautiful sheltered surroundings. One mile walk to the Black Bull in Gartmore where the food was outstanding (and there is a shuttlebus to the pub from the campsite leaving at 7pm and 8pm and back at 10pm), 2 mile walk (on an excellent tarmac path) to Aberfoyle - great location for cycling. Toilets/showers clean and well looked after, welcome from staff very good. Only downside was the distance between pitches - feels a bit too close, could do with spacing them out a bit more. This didn't waste an excellent weekend however. Walked up Ben A'an which was 20 min drive - lovely walk/view over Loch Katrine. Fabulous site well worth a visit.

Overall we had a good weekend with friends and the kids enjoyed the park, forest & water, however bit too noisy for us as we prefer somewhere more peaceful and the pitches were a bit too close together. There also wasnt a site shop for basics like bread, milk or juice, had to cycle to Aberfoyle 3 miles away, was a nice cycle though. Everyone on site was very friendly and helpful. Good but could be better.
