Chertsey is on the banks of the Thames, just a 30-minute train ride from London.

This lovely riverside campsite is an oasis in the suburbs. It has a really rural feel yet is just a 30-minute train ride to London from the Weybridge station. It’s also perfectly placed for visiting some of the country’s best-loved theme parks (Lego Land, Thorpe Park and Chessington), as well as the world-famous Kew, Wisely and Savill gardens. Hampton Court and Chelsea flower shows are also within easy reach from here.

This popular site is on the banks of the River Thames. Bag yourself a riverside pitch and watch the many pleasure craft sail by. Canoeists can launch from here, while walkers will enjoy the Thames Path Nature Trail, a towpath leading to Staines.

The sheltered site provides great facilities for campers, including a games room with TV and table tennis table.

Worth Noting

The site is outside the Congestion Charge and Low Emission Zones. Fishing is available 16 June-15 March. Towcars must remain on site overnight (due to the possibility of flooding). Super Service pitches have TV aerial sockets. The Weybridge station is located 4 Miles from the campsite. Those with motorhomes who wish to use this station are advised to use a taxi when possible

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora or fauna. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

The farm shop in Lyne sells a range of home-grown fruit and vegetables as wellas goose eggs, fresh bread, chutney, jams and more.

I'd booked this campsite as a functional base for visiting Legoland but I was positively surprised when we arrived to find a lovely welcoming camp site, tucked away amid the trees by the river. The way the camp site was broken down and interspersed with trees made it feel smaller and cosier. The staff were welcoming & helpful and the site was relaxed. The children's playground was a definite hit & the facilities were great. It was incredibly easy to drive to Windsor for the day and catch the train to London from either Chertsey or Weybridge, as well as having Legoland, Thorpe Park & Chessington so close. Definitely plan to return again next year.

We stayed for a week with our boys aged 9 and 6. After reading someone else's review (thanks for the tip!) about a local dog-sitter, we enjoyed an afternoon at Thorpe Park while our dog had lots of fun too. Can thoroughly recommend Sonia, only a short distance from the campsite. Her number is 07723 014258. Our boys were happy to ride their bikes all day on the level site. Good pubs very close - the Boathouse where kids eat free all summer and the Kingfisher just over the Thames. Nice walk along the Thames to Laleham, another very good pub is the 3 Horseshoes. Windsor's worth a visit, plus a boat trip for the best view of the castle. Facilities ok but bit dated, not all lights worked in all showers and not all the doors locked. It's on the flight path from Heathrow but you don't notice the planes after a while. All in all, a good break :)

This site is ideal for families with children wanting to visit Thorpe Park and/or Legoland, which is what we did. Apart from noise from M25 and Heathrow, we had a quiet time. It was full or close to it when we visited but the standards were maintained. The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. We enjoyed meals at both of the local pubs, not cheap but good. For real ale people The Kingfisher has a good enough choice of cask conditioned ales. There is an on site catering van, the breakfast was excellent both days but on our second visit the lady in charge was stressed which did affect us.
