Overview

A tranquil, traditional campsite within the M25 motorway, which has been in the Club's care for more than 90 years.

Please note: Walton On Thames is a Member Only Site.

Our pretty Walton Thames Club campsite ticks all the boxes for campers wishing to experience the hustle and bustle of the capital but camp in the more relaxed setting of the countryside. You would hardly know this leafy green oasis is located within London’s orbital M25 motorway.

The campsite is well laid out and surprisingly tranquil and spacious. There’s an excellent dog walk on site and numerous opportunities for dogs and walkers to stretch their legs off site, including a pleasant riverside walk into Hersham. Look out for the site’s resident parakeets.

Horse riding, golf, Nordic walking and llama trekking are all activities that can be enjoyed within the vicinity of the campsite.

Train stations at nearby Walton on Thames and Hersham make London and its attractions very easily accessible. Family days out not in the capital can be enjoyed at Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland theme parks. The popular Hampton Court and Claremont Landscape Garden are close by.

This review is for Walton on Thames

We visited central London by obtaining an off peak travel card giving overground travel in and out and all zone tube travel, brilliant value at around 13 per person. Had only a short distance to drive to Kew, Hampton Court, Richmond Park and the Thames path cycle route. Not to mention the zillions of NT properties in the area.

This review is for Walton on Thames

Egyptian ducks pecking around our feet, parakeets flitting about in the trees above, and the majestic sound of swans flying overhead, with wooded areas where squirrels playfully leapt, and open flat grassland spaces with oodles of room between caravans some with hard standings, all beautifully maintained in this countryside setting beside the reservoirs and rivers of Walton upon Thames. It was hard to believe that the heaving conurbations of London were only a short bus or train ride away. The peace and tranquillity was broken only by the unobtrusive sound of aircraft overhead as they approached or took off from nearby Heathrow airport. This Camping and Caravan Club members only site has recently celebrated its one-hundredth year of operation, and is a gem not to be missed if you want a relaxing site near London. Youll need your own sanitation (No toilet block!) and the last 500-metre approach to the site is single lane, so dont arrive until the morning departures have left. This is up there and equal to some of the best sites weve visited, and its on Londons doorstep!
