This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
Aberford CS is a little hidden gem of a site, this is how our campers describe our CS. We are based on a small holding farm in Aberford near Leeds! ideal location for anyone wanting to explore the surrounding areas. We are 11 miles from Leeds City Centre, Wetherby 8 miles, York 16 mile and we also have Xscape at Castleford which offers a variety of activities for all ages. On the site itself we have a selection of animals, some which people can feed and others that will be cheeky and come to you for feeding. Our animals range from Alpacas to chickens and ducks and we feel we have something for everyone. We also offer a secure playground open 9am until 8.30pm for the children to run off some energy, we do however insist that your children are supervised by an adult at all times. We offer a 6amp electric hookup, toilets, showers, fresh drinking water at various points in the field and of course chemical waste disposal. If you fancy a change why not try our tepee or yurt hire all you have to bring is your bedding.

Excellent site, very close to A1(M) Ideal as a stopover for those travelling north or south.
Having just joined the club and bought first caravan for 20 years, we decided to try a site near to home just to test out the caravan. I rang and booked in advance.
There was no-one around when we turned up but the field was quiet with just 2 campervans in it, so there was plenty of choice. The field, although described as flat, is part flat, and part sloping. The lane from Aberford Road is close to the M1 and also tthe A1(M). I especially like the electrically operated gate to gain access to the site.
The site is close enough to the village of Aberford, but only a few miles from Garforth, if you need a larger selection of shops or eating places.
It was a nice touch to be near such a variety of animals, as well as a nice covered fish pond, and we will be returning here, but next time with grandchildren.
The toilet / shower block is well maintained, with soap and towels, and it even includes a set of urinals at the end. This could be very useful, during the busier summer months. My only criticism would be that there should be some way of washing hands there, possibly some handwash, as if you use the urinals when the other two toilets are in use, you would not be able to wash your hands.
I can recommend The Crooked Billet at Saxton, Tadcaster which is 2. miles away, maybe slightly shorter. Their food is excellent, if a little pricey.
If you do go there you must visit Lead Chapel, which is in the middle of the field opposite The Crooked Billett, It is lovely old church, commonly known as "The Ramblers Church", not quite abandonded, with no electricity, and there are only one or two services a year there.
Half a mile further on there is an old cross to commemorate The Battle of Towton in 1461 during the War of the Roses, when between 28,000 and 36,000 men died on one day. It is described as "probably the largest and bloodiest battle ever fought on English soil".

What a wonderful site! Friendly owners, lots of animals, peaceful. Everyone just relaxes on a friendly site.!
This was the best site we have stayed on during our 5 years of caravaning. Really recommend this site to get away from it all and experience the countryside, and being in touch with nature and animals. I really commend the owners for taking the animals into schools etc. too and giving the kids those valuable experiences getting in touch with animals, what they need, how to look after them and what they produce etc. Hope there will be more sites like this one. We are back in July for 5 days.

Everything for the grandkids,on site, animals of all shapes and sizes, ducks walking past the caravan on their daily trot which they loved.
There has been a few comments about road noise, there is some but it's not intrusive. The village is a short walk away and the local pub serves fantastic meals at a reasonable price and all cooked to order, no reheating, wonderful value. Also have a look at the local church it really is very nice.
I only have a couple of minus's one is the dishwashing area for some reason has no hot water and (not the actual entrance) there is a short steep gradient which could be a bit dodgy if two caravans meet at the same time, but in fairness there is a convex mirror to look through before you commit.
But don't let these two prevent you visiting, the fact that they have won the awards shows what a great site this is, the owners are very nice but do not intrude. Overall I give this 4.5 out of 5 purely because of the lack of hot water as mentioned, not for me by the way as I just do it in the caravan, but for campers etc hot water should be supplied.
