A lovely campsite located on a canal with a number of attractions nearby.

Our Devizes Club campsite is a lovely quiet and secluded retreat by the side of the Avon and Kennet Canal in the heart of Wiltshire. The surrounding countryside, ideal for walkers and cyclists, is where you’ll find some of the UK’s most significant prehistoric sites including the iconic Stonehenge and Avebury Stone circle.

This well-kept, tree-lined campsite provides 90 pitches, some lined by hedging to give a more private feel. In addition to the amenity blocks, campers can expect a children’s play area and playing field and a large dog field.

You can walk or cycle into Devizes from the campsite via the spectacular Caen Hill flight of 29 locks or catch a bus from the stop a five minute walk from site. Buses also operate to Melksham, Bath and Bristol from here.

This bustling historic town has weekly general and collectors' markets and a regular farmers' market. Wadworth's Brewery is here. See its famous shire horses make deliveries in town. Sample the ales at the visitor centre where tours of the brewery and stables can be booked. Also in the town is the Wiltshire Heritage Museum where you'll find Britain’s best Bronze Age archaeology collections. The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust Museum alongside the canal is where you’ll discover the fascinating story of this delightful waterway.

Further afield Longleat and its 900 acres of parkland is a great family day out.

Worth Noting

Fishing available on the canal. Fees payable at reception. Rock pegs needed for hardstandings.

This site has a number of great cycle routes nearby. Why not join the Avon Tow Path towards Bradford on Avon, 12 miles away? Alternatively hire a bike in Bradford on Avon to cycle into Bath to enjoy the spa town and all it has to offer.

We stayed at this site for 2 nights on 9th & 10th February. Haven't stayed on a C&CC site for a long while but at this time of year there is limited choice for any club sites in either group. Chose this one as it's not too far away from home. Lovely welcome from the friendly wardens. One of them took us to our pitch after asking if we had any preference for area. I explained we had our cat with us who I like to take for a little walk on his harness and would appreciate a quiet pitch so we were taken to one where no-one would park on one side of us. Ideal. Shower room clean but there's only 4 showers so I reckon it could get quite busy in the summer months, with 90 pitches on site. Shower was the normal push button stay-on-a-minute type, but very powerful. So powerful it made the shower curtain waft towards you and stick which was a pain. 4G was a bit hit-and-miss if you need wifi coverage. Three Magpies pub 100 yards down the road, quiet with not a lot of atmosphere. Bus stop across the road to catch hourly bus into Devizes - for 2 of us it cost £10 return. We were going to walk along the canal into Devizes on the Saturday morning but the weather forecast wasn't very good so we got the bus. Went in to the Pelican Pub for a spot of lunch, what a place!. Great unique atmosphere with mainly oldies watching horse racing and constantly nipping next door to the bookies and singing along to whatever was on the jukebox. Wonderful. Had a wander along the canal, saw a boat going through the locks. All in all, we liked this site, so much more to it and the area and I think we'll definitely be back, possibly when it's warmer and drier though.

1st Christmas time away in our caravan, my wife, little Westie dog and I had a brilliant & restful time at Devizes C&CC site, we had some awful rain but the all weather pitch (brand new) made it so easy to cope with, some lovely old market towns within a short drive plus Bath or Swindon a slightly longer drive means plenty to do. Walking along the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath ( a minutes walk from site entrance) on Christmas morning was special, I'm told that you can walk in to Devizes town in no time, maybe for the sightly fitter of us with Caen Hill locks to ascend? More about the site itself - Superb, the Managers & Wardens very friendly and helpful, even put on Mulled wine - warm cider and mince pies on Christmas eve! Despite the awful rain the facilities were always immaculate, easy flat walk to the facilities which are in the centre of the site. We were so happy we added another night, doggy walk field is perfect, play area for kids looked good, and there was plenty of space between units. We will certainly be going again, and very happy to recommend the site to anyone.

Excellent site in a great location with much to do and visit.

Excellent site in a great location with much to do and visit. Devizes is charming but hectic, the canal beside the site is worth the visit alone. Lacock medieval village is charming and free unless you visit the NT Abbey as well. Bath and Bristol are nearby and accessible by bus from outside of the site. All beautifully kept by the staff, it's just a shame certain campers do not respect that by arriving early (11.00am? ridiculous) driving on obviously waterlogged grass when not necessary, allowing dogs to foul without clearing up, speeding around the site roads, all the usual ills of inconsiderate members. Facilities near perfect except for the fiddly and silly elsan tap. Didn't like the scruffy seasonal units that detract from a beautiful place. This is a must visit site.
