A lovely campsite located on a canal with a number of attractions nearby.

Our Devizes Club campsite is a lovely quiet and secluded retreat by the side of the Avon and Kennet Canal in the heart of Wiltshire. The surrounding countryside, ideal for walkers and cyclists, is where you’ll find some of the UK’s most significant prehistoric sites including the iconic Stonehenge and Avebury Stone circle.

This well-kept, tree-lined campsite provides 90 pitches, some lined by hedging to give a more private feel. In addition to the amenity blocks, campers can expect a children’s play area and playing field and a large dog field.

You can walk or cycle into Devizes from the campsite via the spectacular Caen Hill flight of 29 locks or catch a bus from the stop a five minute walk from site. Buses also operate to Melksham, Bath and Bristol from here.

This bustling historic town has weekly general and collectors' markets and a regular farmers' market. Wadworth's Brewery is here. See its famous shire horses make deliveries in town. Sample the ales at the visitor centre where tours of the brewery and stables can be booked. Also in the town is the Wiltshire Heritage Museum where you'll find Britain’s best Bronze Age archaeology collections. The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust Museum alongside the canal is where you’ll discover the fascinating story of this delightful waterway.

Further afield Longleat and its 900 acres of parkland is a great family day out.

Beautiful site set by the Kennet Avon canal.

This review is for Devizes

Beautiful site set by the Kennet Avon canal. The staff were so helpful to us as were many other members as this was our first expedition with a trailer tent. There is a large secure field for dogs as well as a nice little wooded walk, plenty of poop bins too ! Our pitch was at the rear backing onto the canal and we did find the people on the boats to be a little noisy but the site itself was quiet away from the canal. Nice clean toilets and plenty of water points around the site. It is only a short walk down the road to get to the canal and a very short drive to the Caen hill locks. There is a lovely pub at the end of the entrance to the site. As with all the sites we have stayed at with the CCC the staff seem to take real pride in their jobs and the site was spotless. Would certainly recommend it and would stay there again

Very convenient for pubs and walks along the tow path.

This review is for Devizes

Very convenient for pubs and walks along the tow path. We could have walked into Devizes if we had been staying longer. The Three Magpies is only a few minutes walk. It is very popular, so you may need to reserve a table mid week should you have a dog with you. (Cannot comment on the food as we were unable to get a table at 6.30pm). The beer is excellent having travelled just a few miles from Devizes. The Barge is a fifteen minute walk down the towpath. Good food and good beer. Dog -friendly but very popular. (Look for a money - off voucher on the website). Clean facilities for which I did not have to queue. Only issue was remembering the code when I had to make an early morning visit! If you do not have your own facilities, it may be better to try to request a pitch near the facilities as there is no short-cut to the only facility block. The dog loved being allowed into a field where he could run off his lead. Much appreciated.

This was our third year at Devizes with our grandchildren and friends.

This was our third year at Devizes with our grandchildren and friends. Jason and Debbie were very helpful in putting us all together. The facilities are well maintained and run.The children loved the play area and the site is close to the Kennet and Avon Canal for some lovely walks (esp the locks at Caen Hill). The Three Magpies ( just off site ) is a very nice country pub. The site is close to Melksham and Devizes and also the National Trust Village of Lacock (well worth a visit). The fish and chip delivery service from nearby Bowerhill is a bonus! One of the best sites we have been to and will certainly be back again.
