A lovely campsite located on a canal with a number of attractions nearby.

Our Devizes Club campsite is a lovely quiet and secluded retreat by the side of the Avon and Kennet Canal in the heart of Wiltshire. The surrounding countryside, ideal for walkers and cyclists, is where you’ll find some of the UK’s most significant prehistoric sites including the iconic Stonehenge and Avebury Stone circle.

This well-kept, tree-lined campsite provides 90 pitches, some lined by hedging to give a more private feel. In addition to the amenity blocks, campers can expect a children’s play area and playing field and a large dog field.

You can walk or cycle into Devizes from the campsite via the spectacular Caen Hill flight of 29 locks or catch a bus from the stop a five minute walk from site. Buses also operate to Melksham, Bath and Bristol from here.

This bustling historic town has weekly general and collectors' markets and a regular farmers' market. Wadworth's Brewery is here. See its famous shire horses make deliveries in town. Sample the ales at the visitor centre where tours of the brewery and stables can be booked. Also in the town is the Wiltshire Heritage Museum where you'll find Britain’s best Bronze Age archaeology collections. The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust Museum alongside the canal is where you’ll discover the fascinating story of this delightful waterway.

Further afield Longleat and its 900 acres of parkland is a great family day out.

First time at Devizes site .

This review is for Devizes

First time at Devizes site .Staff seemed nice enough , clean site, pretty area ,fairly relaxed atmosphere ,good walks. Down side not enough showers and toilet cubicles for site that size. Also being our first time (bit naive ) we were put next to canal unfortunately this position you dont get any sun all day because of trees so take note campers if you want some current bun!! dont go next to canal if you have a choice !!

Staff were very curt when I asked for only 2 nights rather than 4. Our reason for the change,we had been washed out in Cornwall and we just wanted to break the journey up before going home. Their reason for denying our request were they were fully booked. This in fact was untrue! there were many grass pitches and quite a few hard pitches available still when we left after 2 nights. I understand rules and had it been busy season or that they were full I would have to agree with them, but their attitude and sharpness let them down. The staff I felt were rather cheerless and a little unfair under the circumstances, other sites I know would have accepted the request. The Three Magpies Landlady had the same attitude, sharp & unfriendly, we did not stay long at all. The Barge along the canal was far more welcoming and amazingly enough, quite a few other people were there because of similar experiences. We would definitely not return to the site or the pub.

First visit to this site and won't be the last. It was a shame we only booked two nights.

First visit to this site and won't be the last. It was a shame we only booked two nights. Nice welcome and we were personally shown to our big sunny pitch; all very clean & tidy. Easy access to the canal where you can walk or cycle to Devises or Bradford on Avon. Watch out for the showers though. Much too hot for either of us and they are non adjustable.

A lovely site, divided by hedges, which makes it feel more secluded.

A lovely site, divided by hedges, which makes it feel more secluded. A decent pub on the doorstep, with others nearby, virtually direct access onto the Kennet and Avon canal, which offers superb walking and cycling along the towpath. Caen Hill locks are more than impressive. The only negative, as mentioned previously is that the site would really benefit from an additional toilet/shower block.
