Camping equipment

Some people love to buy all the latest camping equipment and gadgets, however you don't necessarily need to do so for a comfortable camping trip.

When you first decide to go camping, picking out equipment to take with you can seem overwhelming, to say the least. You don’t want to buy too much, but on the same token, don’t want to be miles away from home without an essential piece of kit.

As well as the basics, what you’ll need will depend on the type of camping you’re doing (are you caravanning, or pitching a tent?), and the type of site you’re going to. To name a few, caravanners should be sure to have a leisure battery, power lead and reel, the right toilet chemicals, and the correct equipment in case of fire (fire extinguisher, fire blanket, smoke alarm). And, for instance, if you’re staying at a site with on-pitch drainage, you’ll need a container or carrier for the dirty water.

So, to make life simpler for those new to camping or caravanning, here are the essentials you’ll need for sleeping, cooking, eating, and more.
