In November’s print magazine, Ali Ray went aboard The Cheese Boat – a narrowboat that travels the waterways of Britain offering artisan Welsh cheese for sale. This is just one of a host of trade boats that sell their wares directly from their vessels. Officially known as Roving Canal Traders you might be lucky enough to find them on a towpath near your campsite or at a Floating Market – of which there are many that take place around the country throughout the year. See the link for the traders’ calendar which has details of markets and canal festivals.
