The pitches of Graffham Club Site in West Sussex are ringing with the sounds of chainsaws, sledgehammers, a crackling bonfire and hissing steam. It’s not the zombie apocalypse – it’s the sound of a Countryside Care working party tidying up the site now it's closed for the winter. Volunteers from Surrey DA have been joined by the national Countryside Care team on a week-long working party meet. The workers are spread throughout the wooded site, thinning out the sweet chestnut trees, trimming back the bushes and repairing paths and fences.
