Camping Club Youth Rallies
If your kids have joined – or are thinking of joining – CCY, chances are it’s because they love camping. Well, so do we! And the good news is that there are events throughout the year where kids can camp, take part in competitions and challenges and meet friends new and old.
Each Region or DA will organise numerous events, some that are only for CCY and some for everyone, with a dedicated youth area. You can find out what events are happening near you in the Out & About section of the Club magazine (the orange pages).
National Youth Rally
Every year, young people from all over the country get together to celebrate the joys of camping at the National Youth Rally. It’s hosted by a different Region each year, and there’s always lots going on!
A great time was had by all at this year’s rally, hosted by Central Counties Region in Worksop on the first weekend of July. There was so much going on, from the traditional sports tournaments (including football, netball and volleyball) to the climbing wall and the chance for CCY members to test their nerves holding a snake or a tarantula!
Next year's rally is being hosted by Northen Ireland, with a suitably Celtic theme of Myths and Legends. Don’t miss out – let your Youth Leader know your kids would like to join in all the fun and games! It’s 30 June to 2 July 2017 at the Ballymena Showground. If they’re not already members, there’s still time to join, so what are you waiting for?
International Youth Rally
Your kids will also have the chance to really stretch their wings and attend next year's International Youth Rally. Details of the event will be released soon, so check back for more details!
To be able to attend the International Youth Rally, your kids will need to have passed their National Youth Test. There's plenty of time, so get them signed up today and they'll be trotting off on their next big adventure before you know it!
National Feast of Lanterns
The Club's national rally, the National Feast Of Lanterns (NFOL), offers an area for CCY members to camp away from their parents. Taking place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, there'll be events and entertainment galore, including the traditional Mardi Gras parade on Saturday afternoon. The 2017 NFOL takes place at Hickstead, the All-England Jumping Course in West Sussex, BN6 9HS.
The theme is "A Day at the Races", so there's plenty of opportunity for your kids to let their imaginations run riot as they come up with cosutmes for the Mardi Gras!
