Security Is At The Heart Of Members Needs
The Club continues to Shout about caravan and motorhome security to its members, the industry and further afield, continuously looking forward, both initiating and building on ways to reduce the crime which affects campers, caravanners and motorhome users.
Senior directors within the Club alongside those from Club Care Insurance travelled the country visiting caravan and chassis manufacturers to encourage them come up with new ways of immobilizing caravans with the aim of rendering them virtually ‘unstealable’. This led to initiatives such as the launch of the new Al-Ko Secure device which we fitted to our new fleet of Bailey Discovery Manoeuvring Course Caravans in 2005.
The Club has recently introduced a new caravan tracking device, Club Secure. Almost 100 people have already fitted the device in a move to protect their holiday investment. These members who are serious about safety and security will be rewarded through their insurance premiums. Caravanners who fit Club Secure and Al-Ko Secure can reduce their insurance by 20%.
Other initiatives which the Club has been actively involved include the Steer Clear campaign, whereby police forces work with the industry to combat caravan crime. Over three hundred Police officials from nationwide constabularies joined key caravan industry figures at a seminar organised by the Club to unite forces against caravan crime.
David Welsford, Director General of The Camping and Caravanning Club said: “We will continue to Shout about security and what we do and need to do further to protect the interests of over 400,000 members.”
