The eight week summer season of daily orchestral classical music that is The Henry Wood Promenade Concerts returns with a huge programme of classics, both famous and obscure.
See the whole of Wagner’s masterpiece, the Ring Cycle and enjoy Mozart, Sibelius, Stravinsky, Penderecki, Debussy and Ravel. Hear timeless works like Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony or explore something a little different like Frank Zappa’s rock opera, The Adventures of Greggery Peccary, a high-energy counter-culture satire now revived in a fresh performance. Or the Doctor Who Prom, showcasing both Murray Gold’s music from the series and the groundbreaking work of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
Why not checkout the 6 Music prom where Cerys Matthews, Laura Marling and The Stranglers join London Sinfonietta for an eclectic Late Night Prom including 20th-century classics by John Adams, Berio and Varèse, plus a live remix mash-up by composer Anna Meredith. And of course you can’t miss the Last Night of the Proms celebrations in Hyde Park with a host of musical stars including world-famous tenor Joseph Calleja, the BBC Concert Orchestra and a special appearance from Nigel Kennedy.
