Celebrate the last weekend of ranger events with Nikki and Will before the campsite closes on 28th October.
There will be wand making at 2pm, followed by face painting. Join our Hallowe'en special woodland to help prepare you for the Celtic New Year, Samhain, on 31st October. Find out where this popular festival originates from; why we wear masks, light fires, play games and carve pumpkins. Also learn how to protect yourself against the misguided spooks who venture out on 'All Hallows Eve' when the spiritual veil is at its thinnest. Don't squash a spider that day (or any day :-) as it could be an ancestor popping by to say hi! Dressing up is encouraged but not essential, although warm clothing and a torch is. Bring your own spooky stories to share around our hobo stove whilst enjoying toasted marshmallows. Prizes for spookiest tale and best costume!
The walk will start around 7pm and take about an hour and a half.
Please do not bring Chinese lanterns or fireworks thanks due to the fire risk and damage to the local wildlife. The event time will be advertised locally depending on dusk, although this event will be weather dependent.
Nikki and Will's aims are to inspire you with their enthusiasm and love of nature, to have fun and to help you to find or develop your own woodland interests which will help to protect the great outdoors in the future. They can sometimes offer ad hoc events or activities, or to those that may have special requirements. Follow them on Facebook Nix in Nature and on the Blog.
Event details can change.
Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
