If you’re a ‘culture vulture’ the area is rich in ancient history. It is here that Henry II, his wife, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine and their son Richard the Lionheart are buried. There is an array of museums and châteaux to explore and for those who yearn for a little more excitement, the Puy du Fou live theatre park stages breath-taking shows with warring Vikings, clashing Gladiators and even chariot races.
No matter which of our ten Club selected sites you choose, you’ll experience a genuine taste of France and have a great holiday whilst doing so.
Situated in western Loire, L’Etang is a spacious, top quality site which has its own vineyard; this means wine is both produced and on sale here. A fishing lake, great swimming pool facilities and a large play park nearby (with reduced admission for campers) make it ideal for families.
Set in spacious and leafy grounds around the main house, the site at Chȃteau de Chanteloup guarantees a memorable break in a beautiful setting. There are woodland walks and cycle routes to explore, lakes to fish and ample swimming pool facilities to enjoy. This relaxed and sociable site is a real ‘get away from it all’ destination.
If your ideal campsite is a friendly, intimate and traditional one, then Camping le Moulin is perfect for you. Located in pretty countryside on the edge of a traditional market town, this site is great for either relaxing by the pool, pottering about the town or for visits to nearby attractions such as the Cognac brandy cellars or Futuroscope amusement park.
Vallée des Vignes is a superbly maintained and spacious site in a pretty rural setting. Facilities include a swimming pool, paddling pool, bar & restaurant and children’s activities. This campsite is perfectly located for days out to local attractions such as the nearby World Wildlife Fund recognised zoo, the Doué La Fontaine Rose Gardens and local vineyards offering wine appreciation lessons. Members can also enjoy a rally here in June.
In a very picturesque Loire Valley location, the intimate and peaceful Chantepie site is famed for its rustic charm and provides a range of activities including swimming in the pool, wine tasting, local walks, a children’s activity club and canoeing.
Set in quiet woodland and ideal for younger families, the facilities at La Mignardière include swimming and paddling pools, a children’s play area and a leisure park close by. This site is also ideally placed for exploring the Loire and Cher valleys either on foot, by bike or in the car.
Les Saules is a lovely, welcoming campsite which is ideal for young families. There is a great deal to do and see here and on site facilities include a swimming pool, paddling pool, bar/ restaurant, pizzeria and shop. Sports facilities include golf, mini-golf and fishing. The site also gives you immediate access to a huge network of cycle paths which are a great way to explore the region at a leisurely pace. Cycle and cycle-trailer hire is available on site. Members can also enjoy a rally here in May and June.
If you love swimming and water sports Les Bois du Bardelet is perfect for you. There’s plenty to occupy young families here with an impressive swimming pool complex which is right by a lakeside beach. Other facilities include a multi-sports court, bar & restaurant, take away, shop and a superb indoor paddling pool just for young children.
The site at Chȃteau de Poinsouze is set in the grounds of the beautifully restored chȃteau. This relaxing rural idyll is a perfect holiday location for anglers, walkers and cyclists. All the facilities you need are available on site including swimming pool, bar & restaurant and shop.
Lac de St. Cyr has all you’d expect from a modern family campsite. As well as water sports, golf and fishing, this spacious site has a wide, sandy lakeside beach. This makes it the perfect location for lazy days, with perhaps a refreshing swim before a meal or drinks in the site’s bar & restaurant.
