A stunning 40 day tour beginning in San Marino and ending Ancona, Italy and travelling through Greece, this itinerary takes you to some of Turkey’s most fascinating places in the comfort of your own unit. From underground cities to key archaeological sites, with time to relax on the beautiful coastline and enjoy all this tour offers.

Tour itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at San Marino campsite and enjoy an evening welcome drink and meal with the tour escorts.

Day 2
The next day is at leisure – enjoy a trip into San Marino by taking the bus directly from the campsite.

Day 3
Depart San Marino and travel to Ancona (75 miles) to board the ferry. The ferry is currently scheduled to depart at 14.00 and sails overnight to Igoumenitsa, Greece.

Day 4
Arrive in Igoumenitsa, Greece at 08.30 and travel to the next campsite at Kalambaka, catching your first glimpse of the magnificent Meteora cliffs (105 miles).
Enjoy an evening group meal on site.

Day 5
Day excursion to the 9th century Meteora Monasteries, one of the most spectacular sights in Greece, with guide and entry fee included.

Day 6
Travel north east to Plaka, Litochoro (100 miles).

Day 7
Travel to Alexandroupolis, our last campsite in Greece (250 miles).

A day at leisure with time on the beach by the campsite.

Day 9
We’re now off to Turkey! Travel to Edirne, a historic city which was the second capital of the Ottoman empire (95 miles).

Day 10
Guided excursion to Edirne visiting the famous Selimiye Mosque and the Museum of Health and Medicine, with lunch, guide and entry fee included.

Day 11
Travel to a campsite on the outskirts of Istanbul (115 miles).

Day 12
In the morning you will travel to the centre of Istanbul for a two-night hotel stay – breakfast included, all other charges are at your own expense. Your units will stay at the campsite and will be watched over. Excursion to Istanbul visiting the Dolmabahçe Palace, cruising the Bosphorus and experiencing the Spice Bazaar and Hagia Sophia, lunch, guide and entry fees are included.

Day 13
Day at leisure in Istanbul to explore and discover more of this magnificent city with its opulent heritage where east meets west. Your hotel is located in the Old City, within walking distance of the Grand Bazaar.
In the evening you will enjoy a folklore show and meal at a local restaurant.

Day 14
An excursion to take in more highlights in Istanbul including the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar with lunch, guide and entry fees included. Afterwards you will be transferred back to the campsite.

Day 15
Onwards to the capital, Ankara, which is Turkey’s second largest city (330 miles).
Enjoy an evening group meal on site.

Day 16
An excursion to Ankara to visit Ataturk’s Mausoleum, the citadel with its ancient walls and the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. Lunch, guide and entry fees included.

Day 17
Travel to Ortahisar in Cappadocia where you will be fascinated by the geographically unique landscape of the region (190 miles).

Day 18
An excursion to the Goreme Valley to visit the Kaymakli underground city, the open air museum and the churches in the rock. Lunch, guide and entry fees included.

Day 19
An optional early morning balloon flight over the landscape can be organised (payable locally). There will be also be a morning guided walk to experience the strange rock formations up close before returning to the site.

Day 20
A day at leisure to relax and enjoy this fascinating region.

Day 21
Travel to Sultanhani where you can choose to visit the nearby Caravanseray (85 miles). This impressive structure dating back to 1229 was used by camel caravans as they travelled along the Silk Road.

Travel to Manavgat in Antalya (200 miles). Perhaps take a trip to see Manavgat waterfall?

Day 23
A day at leisure to relax on the campsite or to visit the local area. Why not take a trip into nearby Side and away from the tourist trail discover the spectacular theatre dating back to the second century AD.

Day 24
Travel along the coast which is littered with ancient ruins (175 miles) to Kas. Aspendos is particularly revered for its theatre dating back to AD 61 - 80.
Time to relax in the evening on site with a group meal.

Day 25
Excursion to Demre (Kale) includes a guided visit to the ruins at Myra and St Nicholas church, followed by lunch and a boat trip to see the ruins on the hillside and a dip in the sea.

Day 26
Travel to Pamukkale, whose calcium rich waters have been attracting visitors for centuries. Enjoy a group meal on site in the evening (185 miles).

Day 27
A day at leisure, but don’t miss out on visiting the striking travertines and Roman ruins just near to the campsite.

Day 28
Travel back towards the Aegean coast to Kusadasi and in the evening, enjoy a meal on site. (140 miles).

Day 29
An excursion to the ancient city of Ephesus to see the best preserved classical city in the eastern Mediterranean. Lunch, guide and entry fees included.

Day 30
Travel north to Bergama (120 miles).
1 night at Bergama campsite.
Day 31
A morning excursion with a guide to Pergamum to visit the Asclepion, an ancient medical centre where activities ranged from mud baths to sunbathing. There will also be a visit to the Acropolis. Guide and entry fees included.

Day 32
Travel to Kabatepe campsite (160 miles), you will sail across the Dardanelles by ferry (payable locally – approximately £16).
Enjoy an evening meal on site.

A morning excursion to the British and European Gallipoli battlefield sites with a guide.

A day at leisure to relax on site or explore more of the Gallipoli battlefields or surrounding region.

Our return journey starts as we travel to Alexandroupolis (125 miles).

Travel back into Greece to return to Litochoro, Plaka (240 miles).

Travel to Delphi (175 miles) the spiritual home of Classical Greece, home of the oracle and a major place of worship to the god Apollo. Enjoy an evening meal on site.

Day 38
A coach excursion into Delphi for a guided tour, taking in the 4th century Temple of Apollo.

Day 39
Travel to Patras (75 miles) ferry port in the afternoon. The ferry is currently scheduled to depart at 18.00 and sails overnight to Ancona, Italy.

Day 40
Arrival in Ancona at 17.00. This ends the tour travel arrangements.

• Accommodation on the Mediterranean crossings may be in a 2-berth inside cabin on board or in your own unit or, this will be confirmed at a later date. Any cabin upgrades will incur a supplement.
• Ferry supplements for larger vehicles (over 6m in length) or alternative UK – continent crossings.
• Dardanelles ferry crossing (approximately: £16).
• Personal expenses - fuel, food, tolls, tips or personal excursions.
• Personal Insurance (which is compulsory).
• Vehicle Insurance and Vehicle Breakdown Cover must be taken out prior to leaving the UK. This must cover Eastern Turkey as well as Western ‘European’ Turkey. Please ensure you have the necessary extension of cover, sometimes referred to as a green card, issued from your insurer for this tour of Turkey.
