New Zealand North & South Islands

Day 1 Fly from London to Auckland with Air New Zealand via Los Angeles. It is possible to stop off in Los Angeles to break up the journey.

Day 3 Arrive in Auckland and spend the first night in a hotel.

Day 4 - 5 Pick up your motorhome and head north to Paihia. Why not take a cruise around the Bay of Islands?

Day 6 Travel to Kaitaia in the subtropical north – take a bus trip along 90 mile beach calling in at Matauri and Tauranga Bay.

Day 7 Travel back towards Auckland and stop off at the seaside resort of Takapuna with great views across to Auckland.

Day 8 Passing through Hamilton, go and visit the Waitomo Caves and say hello to the famous glow-worms.

Day 9 Travel to Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake and famous for its geothermal activity.

Day 10 From Lake Taupo drive to Palmerston North via Turangi, the trout fishing capital of the country.

Day 11 Visit the capital, Wellington – a visit to the Te Papa museum is a must to understand the culture and history of the country.

North_South_MapDays 12 - 13 Cross the Cook Straight on the Interislander ferry and head to Kaikoura, famous for its whale watching.

Day 14 From Kaikoura, travel to Christchurch, the largest city on South Island. Be inspired by how the locals are recovering from the recent earthquake.

Day 15 Continue south to Dunedin, where you can visit penguin, albatross and seal colonies.

Day 16 Have you ever been as far South as Invercargill, the southern most city in New Zealand?

Day 17 - 19 Travel to Te Anau where an excursion on Milford Sound is a must.

Day 20 - 21 Queenstown is the adventure capital of the country where you can experience bungee jumping, jet boating and rafting. For a more relaxing experience take a trip on the TSS Earnslaw.

Day 22 - 23 Take the Haast Pass to visit Fox Glacier and Franz Josef Glacier.

Day 24 Drive from Franz Josef to Greymouth along the coast calling in at Shantytown, a reconstructed gold rush town.

Day 25 Take Arthur’s Pass back over to Christchurch for your last night in the Land of the Long White Cloud.

Day 26 Return your motorhome and fly from Christchurch to London via Hong Kong. Why not spend a couple of nights in this amazing city to break up your journey.
