One of the most sparsely populated countries in the world, Namibia offers a wide range of beautiful landscapes to visit.

The Namib desert occupies the entire length of the west coast, while the Kalahari desert covers much of the east coast border with Botswana. There are just four rivers in Namibia - the Orange in the south and the Kunene, Okavango and Zambesi in the north.

Etosha National Park - in the North of the country lies the Etosha National Park, one of the best places to spot wildlife in Southern Africa. There are great opportunities to view game in the National Park’s numerous watering holes, including black rhinos, zebra, springbok, lion, antelope, elephant and giraffe. Lucky visitors may also see the elusive leopard and cheetah.

South-AfricaThe Skeleton Coast - stretching the whole of the west coast of the country, the Skeleton Coast is famous for its littering of shipwrecks that occupy the coastline. Whale and seal bones are also a common site, a reminder of the days when the whaling industry was still active. The bordering Skeleton National Park also houses many animals including big cats, elephant and black rhino.

Twyfelfontein - this huge open-air art gallery features artwork carved into the rocks by the ancient Bushmen. Some of the carvings are estimated to be more than 6,000 years old and they depict the wildlife seen in the area - giraffe, rhinos, lions, elephant and ostrich.

Sossusvlei - a trip over to the west coast of the country will reward you with a sight of the largest sand dunes in the world, part of the Namib desert. You can climb up the dunes for spectacular views across the area, or visit during sunrise or sunset when the dunes display breathtaking colours of orange, red and deep purple.

Fish River Canyon - the Fish River is the longest in Namibia, but out of the wet season is usually dry. It is the second deepest canyon in the world and was formed over 500 million years ago. The area is popular among hikers and the active among you can opt for a 4-day 86km expedition from May to September.
