Visiting Brecon Mountain Railway
Running through a hilly and isolated part of South Wales, the railway that opened in 1859 was nicknamed ‘The Breakneck and Murder Railway.’ It was used in World War II to carry coal to serve the Royal Navy, was closed in 1964 but taken over in 1980 by the Brecon Mountain Railway that has restored much of the line.
