Visiting Chillingham Castle
Chillingham Castle was once a monastery that evolved into a castle and then into a stately home. During World War Two the castle functioned as a barracks but was badly treated and fell into disrepair. Sir Humphrey Wakefield purchased the property in 1982 and has been extensively restoring the property. The castle is believed to be extremely haunted and phantoms seen include a boy dressed in blue with a halo and the ghost of lady Mary Berkeley that often wanders around the south west tower.
