The Motorhome & Caravan Show, the biggest indoor consumer show of its type, runs from 15-20 October at Birmingham's NEC and will be the first opportunity for many people to see all the new caravans and motorhomes from the main UK and European leisure vehicle brands.

I’m looking forward to seeing headliners such as Helen Skelton and Monty Halls there, but there are a few other star attractions and things to see and do that I thought I’d share with you:
1. Endurance athlete Mark Beaumont will star at the show on its opening day, Tuesday 15 October, towing a Freedom caravan with his bicycle. Best known for smashing the circumnavigation cycling World Record twice – he holds this 18,000-mile title in a time of 78 days and 14 hours, averaging 240 miles a day – Mark towed the caravan at a speed of 11.093km/h at a test track just before the show.
2. Club member and Paralympic cyclist Mel Nicholls, who set a new record for handcycling the length of Britain from Land’s End to John O’Groats in under seven days recently (check out our news story), is set to appear on the Club Stand (Hall 8, stand 10) at the show on Friday 18 October, where she'll talk about the challenge, how she overcame hurdles along the way and how her Benimar motorhome makes her life as an athlete that bit easier.
3. TV presenter and regular Camping & Caravanning magazine columnist Andy Torbet will also appear at the Club stand on Friday 18 October to share how his campervan, known as the office, is the perfect base for work and leisure. For those who don’t know Andy so well, he’s an all-action man: an underwater explorer, skydiver and more who’s been a regular on BBC’s The One Show, and the show Beyond Bionic.
4. The Club’s joined forces with Jeep to offer free one-to-one sessions where showgoers new to caravanning can learn how to tow a touring caravan safely. Our experts will sit in with you as you take to the local roads. And don’t worry, if you’ve checked our website and seen that our popular Towing Experience is all booked up, there’s still walk-up availability on the day.
5. If you visit the show be sure to take part in the Club’s competition to win an Eccles 560 caravan and Vango Vienna awning, and check out the barbecue cooking demonstrations with Eat Local chef Andrew Dickens each day.
