Visit McCaig's Tower & Battery Hill

Inspired by Roman and Greek architecture as well as the Colosseum in Rome, McCaig’s Tower was built by local stonemasons for John Stuart McCaig. The astonishing tower sits on Battery Hill and provides a great view of Oban and beyond.

It’s a great walk to McCaig’s tower, and once you’ve reached the top, you can marvel at the views as well as watch ferries sail in and out of the harbour.

Dunollie Museum Castle and Grounds is an internationally recognised centre for Scottish culture and heritage and home of the World-Wide Clan MacDougall.

Dunstaffnage Castle and Chapel have been labelled Historic Scotland Property since 1958. The castle, constructed in 1240 on a rock above the Firth of Lorn, overlooks the glistening Ardmucknish Bay. You can now visit the castle, one of Scotland's oldest standing castle remains.

Whilst learning about Oban’s rich history, you can also visit Oban War & Peach Museum. The museum aims to educate the public on the town's culture and history during its time of peace and amid war.

Tour Oban Distillery

Oban Distillery is a small distillery built at the edge of the sea. In fact, if you were to row a few metres out to sea, you’ll be able to capture the whole of Oban and the quaint distillery in a single image.

The distillery prides itself on quality, authenticity and its remarkable heritage. You can book a tour, taste their variety of whiskies, and witness their intriguing whisky-making process. Explore the waters with Seafari Adventures

An adventure fit for the whole family, Seafari Adventures takes you on a boat trip to see whales, porpoises, seabirds and more. Depending on the time of year you’re camping in Oban, you may be able to book a boat ride with Seafari Adventures to see the world’s third-largest whirlpool, Corryvreckan. These boats are usually available between March and October.
