1. Cornwall is home to some of the best beaches in the UK. Bude itself has plenty of beaches to choose from, with some of the most popular being Black Rock Beach, Summerleaze Beach, Widemouth Bay and Crooklets Beach. You’ll have easy access to the beach wherever you camp in Bude.
2. Being so close to the sea means watersports like surfing, sailing and paddleboarding are popular. You can book lessons if you’re new to some of these and hiring equipment is easy.
3. Bude Sea Pool, just behind Summerleaze Beach, is an outdoor lido popular with families as is protected from the currents of the Atlantic Ocean. Lifeguards overlook the pool in the summer months and its also completely free to use.
4. The nearby village of Boscastle is worth a visit and is where you’ll find Tintagel Castle, which is shrouded in the legend of King Arthur. Don’t miss walking down to the beach to discover Merlin’s Cave.
5. You might recognise the name of the nearby village, Port Isaac, from Doc Martin. The village is also a beautifully Cornish fishing port with whitewashed cottages.
6. Bude sits along the longest National Trail in the UK, the South West Coast Path which stretches all the way from Minehead to Somerset. Whether you’re a avid walker or prefer a short amble, it’s worth checking out just to say you’ve done a stretch of it.
7. Within driving distance, the Milky Way Adventure Park is brilliant for those camping in Bude with kids. The amusement park makes a great day out, and Bideford, where its located, is a lovely historic port town worth exploring.
