Things to see and do while camping in Plymouth
Here’s just a selection of things to do in and around the vibrant coastal city of Plymouth.
1. Plymouth Hoe, with its backdrop of Plymouth Sound (the harbour), is undoubtedly a great place to spend a morning or afternoon to appreciate Plymouth’s seaside location. There are plenty of things to do here, including the promenade, cafes, spaces to relax, and points of interest to explore.
2. The National Marine Aquarium is the largest in the UK, making a great day out for the whole family. With over 5,000 animals from across the world, from cheeky turtles to scary sharks, there’s plenty to see and do.
3. The Plymouth Gin Distillery is the oldest working distillery in England and offers tours and tastings which are a great way to try before you buy.
4. In 1620, Pilgrims left Plymouth to settle in North America. Today, in the Barbican district, you can visit the Mayflower Steps, commemorating where the ship set sail.
5. The Dartmoor National Park is brilliant for walkers and cyclists, offering fabulous views and plenty of history to unearth. Our Tavistock Club Site is ideal for those wanting to spend time exploring Dartmoor National Park.
6. Take a steam train ride on the South Devon Railway for an unforgettable day out. Experience views of the River Dart and stop off at the Totnes Rare Breeds Farm and Buckfast Butterfly Farm and Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary along the way.
