Overview

Broom campsite is a little slice of paradise, nestled on the Solway coast, a short walk from the campsite and you are on the beach, with fantastic views of the Scottish hills to your right and the Lake district hills to your left. The Broom is well located geographically and offers our visitors a central base from which to visit many different attractions from castles to distilleries, or if your passing through a handy stop over for the night. The site has had a very chequered history from Iron age settlement to King Robert the Bruce’s battle camp, where they camped to watch out for marauders coming across the Solway Firth from England and in deed was the site of a battle where in 1845 human bones and swords where unearthed by a farmer. Bought in 1995 we have worked tirelessly to encourage mother nature and the wildlife to bounce back producing the backdrop to the campsite you see today. We are a site of special scientific interest SSSI and wildlife abounds, with everything from the wading birds on the Solway to badgers, deer, foxes, rabbits and the occasional osprey drops in for tea.
Please contact the campsite directly if you have any questions about opening dates, facilities or additional measures at this campsite.

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operate under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

Whilst the majority of Certificated Sites do permit children, please be aware that this site has chosen to be Adults Only.

To vote for your favourite CS, all you need to do is fill in the online form and select which category you would like to nominate the campsite for.
