    Overview

    Beautifully located between the Moray Firth on one side and hills on the other.

    Our Rosemarkie Club campsite on Scotland’s Black Isle sits right on the edge of a half-moon bay, flanked by hills and woodland on one side and the stunning Moray Firth on the other. If it’s dolphins you’ve come to see, you won’t have to look too far. The lighthouse, just a short walk from the site is the ideal place.

     

    Campers will enjoy superb views over the Moray Firth to Fort George from many of the pitches here and a walk along the sand from the site brings you to the Faerie Glen. Rosemarkie village is famous for its Pictish stones housed in the Groam House Museum. There’s a pleasant beach extending all the way to Chanonry Point and a community-run beach café.


    Fortrose boasts a ruined cathedral and several restaurants and tearooms. Hidden from most of the town and only reachable by narrow, twisting roads, is a very pretty harbour offering many leisure pursuits and a peaceful and secluded beach.


    The livelier Inverness is close by. Sitting on the banks of the River Ness, the town is dominated by a pink crenelated castle. The towns offer many places of interest to visit as well as shops, eating places and a Victorian market.


    Nature lovers can take a boat from Avoch Harbour or Cromarty to see dolphins. Or visit Munlochy Bay to spot wading birds, ducks and migratory birds. You can also feed ducks, geese and swans at Black Isle Wildlife and Country Park.

    		These are jumbo grass pitches with no electric hook-up, suitable for units measuring more than 5m x 9m.


    		These are jumbo grass pitches with electric hook-up, suitable for units measuring more than 5m x 9m.


    		These are super service hard standing pitches with electric hook-up, fresh water and waste drainage, suitable for those looking for a little more luxury whilst they camp.

     

    Worth Noting

    Please note Levelling chocks are required. If you fancy a round of golf, Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club welcomes our campers and offers a discount (dependent on time) – contact the Golf Club Secretary for details on 01381 620529.

    Rosemarkie Beach

    Providing a beautiful backdrop of plush woodland and manicured lawns, Rosemarkie Beach is a long stretch of golden sand. Explore caves and rock pools, and keep an eye out for a glimpse of dolphins, who like the swim near the shoreline.

    Fortrose Cathedral

    Reputedly built in 700AD, Fortrose Cathedral was the seat of the Bishopric of Ross and is situated in the heart of the town. Largely demolished in the 17th century by Oliver Cromwell, the cathedral still displays fascinating examples of architecture including stone vaulting and window tracery.

    Chanonry Point

    Popular with wildlife admirers due to the number of dolphins that are spotted nearby, Chanonry Point boasts a towering lighthouse that soars above the bay and provides panoramic views of the coastline.

    Inverness Castle

    Sitting atop a cliff overlooking the River Ness, Inverness Castle has undergone various developments since the 11th century. Before it became the neo-Norman structure visible today, it was a 18th century citadel known as Fort George.
