Overview
Set in Lancashire’s glorious Ribble Valley, south of the Forest of Bowland our Clitheroe Club campsite enjoys a parkland setting close to the River Ribble.
The site caters for all types of unit and offers a good range of facilities for campers. The adjacent river offers swimming, canoeing and fishing opportunities. You can walk from the site too along the river to Waddington, Great Mitton or further. Set amongst the trees of the Edisford Riverside Picnic and Recreation Area, this campsite is popular with families.
A little over a mile from the campsite, Clitheroe is a bustling market town. Its castle dominates the local skyline and within its 16 acre site you’ll find the castle keep, a Labrynth and children’s playground. Clitheroe is also developing as Lancashire’s food town.
The Tolkein Trail takes you on a walking tour past Stonyhurst College where Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was schooled and where J.R.R Tolkein penned some of The Lord of The Rings. The historic Whalley Abbey and Sawley Abbey are also worth visiting.
North of Clitheroe campsite, the Forest of Bowland is ripe for exploration on foot or by bike. There’s also horse riding, fishing and bird watching available.
