1. Spend the day at Mablethorpe Beach
The Blue Flag award-winning Mablethorpe Beach is a long stretch of golden sand with clean waters and great facilities. This beach is excellent for families with activities like donkey rides available and areas for beach sports like volleyball to keep kids entertained. The beach has predictable tides and gentle waters, so swimming, kayaking and canoeing are all on the cards. As a bonus, you won’t have to go far to get your ice cream fix, with the promenade having a great range of cafes and shops.
2. Visit Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary and Wildlife Centre
This attraction started as a seal rescue and rehabilitation centre. Today, the centre offers educational talks, feeding demonstrations and the chance to get up close to rescued seals, otters, meerkats and more. With over 60 species at the centre, areas for a picnic and a café, the centre makes a great family day out for those camping in Mablethorpe.
3. Enjoy Chapel St Leonards Beach
If you fancy a change of scenery for a beach day during your stay in Mablethorpe, the sandy beach at Chapel St Leonards is around a 25-minute drive from our Mablethorpe Club Site. The pristine beach is perfect for swimming, picnics and sunbathing on sunny days. You’ll find arcades, shops and cafes along the promenade.
4. Stop by the North Sea Observatory
While visiting Chapel St Leonards, why not stop by the North Sea Observatory for panoramic views of the North Sea? As well as the unbeatable views, you’ll also find an art gallery and information about the local marine environment. This is a great spot for a cup of tea in the café and appreciating the local area.
5. Explore the Lincolnshire Wolds
One of the UK’s National Landscapes, the Lincolnshire Wolds is around 30 minutes from our Mablethorpe Club Site. The hilly area boasts hidden valleys, gentle streams and quiet villages. The Lincolnshire Wolds is perfect for setting off and exploring on foot.
6. Go wildlife spotting at the Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes
This National Nature Reserve is less than a 10-minute drive from our Mablethorpe Club Site and is perfect for wildlife lovers. The mudflats, dunes and freshwater marshes attract a range of local wildlife, including grey seals, natterjack toads and common redshank. We recommend packing your binoculars and camera for a few hours of wildlife watching.
7. Head to other local towns
Louth, Spilsby, Market Rasen and Alford are all worth spending a few hours exploring at your own pace.
8. Pack your bucket and spade and visit Skegness for the day
You can’t get a more traditional seaside town than Skegness, around a 35-minute drive from our Mablethorpe Club Site. The main amusement park is Skegness Pleasure Beach, which has a big funfair wheel and all of the classic rides. Walk along the pier, enjoy some shopping in the town centre, visit Natureland Seal Sanctuary or visit the aquarium.
9. Spend time in Queens Park
Behind the promenade, you’ll find Queens Park, a lovely area with plenty of activities for the whole family. You’ll find a boating lake with pedal boats, crazy golf, a children’s play area, beautiful gardens for a picnic and much more.
10. Soak in history at Gunby Hall
Visit the property, which was built in 1700, set within beautiful Victorian walled gardens, just a 30-minute drive from Mablethorpe Club Site. The gardens are bursting with colour throughout the seasons and are lovely to stroll around. A second-hand bookshop, art gallery and tearoom complement your visit.
