Skipton Castle

1. The Yorkshire Dales National Park

Skipton is often called the “Gateway to the Dales”. With its stunning landscapes, charming villages, and a wealth of outdoor activities, the Yorkshire Dales National Park is a brilliant holiday destination.

2. Skipton Castle

You can explore the entirety of Skipton Castle which is one of the best preserved castles in England. Dark dungeons, winding staircases and beautiful gardens await.

3. Bolton Abbey

4. Malham Cove

This huge curving limestone formation is a popular location among walkers and makes for some brilliant photographs. You can reach Malham Cove from the village of Malham, and from the top, you’ll be rewarded with wonderful views of the Yorkshire Dales.

5. Grassington

The town of Grassington is a brilliant base for walkers, with popular trails, including the Dales Way and Grassington Moor, which is home to lead mining remains.

6. Hesketh Farm Park

Visit this working farm, just 5 miles from Skipton, for a fun filled family day out. Meet and get hands-on with some of the inhabitants, including pigs, chicks, goats, guinea pigs and even giant tortoises. Enjoy an afternoon tractor ride through the farm with Farmer Chris and end your visit with a picnic or bite to eat in the café.

7. Thornton Hall Country Park

Another brilliant family day out, Thorton Hall Country Park has something for everyone. Play areas, animal encounters, farm safari trips and so much more awaits.

8. Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway
