World’s biggest sleeping bag
Yorkshire-based outdoor clothing manufacturer Snugpak has made the world’s biggest sleeping bag to launch Centrepoint’s 2014 national Sleep Out event.
Snugpak's 80kg sleeping bag was unveiled at the Provident Stadium in Bradford and took half an hour to unroll.
Bradford Bulls stars including Robbie Hunter-Paul joined the Sleep Out to raise funds for youth homelessness charity Centrepoint and The Bulls Foundation, which uses the power of sport to educate, motivate and inspire the local community.
Robbie, a Bulls Foundation Trustee, said: “It was fantastic to have such an incredible piece of kit on show at the Provident Stadium.
Faye Wilson, Centrepoint Regional Fundraising Manager, said: “The sleeping bag is huge, but it’s sobering to think that barely a fraction of the 80,000 young people who find themselves homeless each year would fit in it.
“Sleep Out can never replicate the fear and uncertainty 20,000 homeless young people will face this Christmas. But hopefully the event will draw attention to the dangers they face.”
The campaign has raised £500,000 to date.
